Not sure if you are saying us people that are calling it mold are wrong, but all the info you need is from the picture posted above, and the picture in your first link. Take this thread as education to see what mold looks like above, and what plume looks like in the first link you posted. Mold is splotchy/uneven clumps like the pic above. Plume is more of a crystalized/sparkly even dusting, hardly visible to the eye. Some more info from a reputable source http://www.cigaraficionado.com/webfeatures/show/id/17110
wow dude, we are trying to be helpful yet you don't care to learn. No skin off my back... this is why I don't like to even look at these threads as it's the same old story over and over. But I like to help educate noobs and FOGs alike that don't know or have the experience. I'm honestly shocked that this debate exists as it's black and white to me.We can agree to disagree. As both of the links stated if it can be wiped off, it's not mold. I have seen plume form in a dusted pattern and in spots like the OP's photo.
There's a deeper lesson here though when it comes to tubos. This happens way too often when cigars are left in tubes for my liking, so I either remove them entirely (most often) or at least store them with the caps removed..We can agree to disagree. I'll defer to the vets here though. If the cigar is fine either way then it's not really worth squabbling over.
Never liked tubos for storing. Great for travel, but poor for storing. There's a deeper lesson here though when it comes to tubos. As long as it's not on the foot and it's white mold it's fine, just wipe it off. This means that almost every so called case of plume I've seen has been mold. Which begs the question: how bad is the mold for your cigar?
