Hi BOTL,

My name is Victor and I've been smoking cigars for six month now. Always read the forum but never registered till today. I live in the DR, home to many great cigars. Big fan of Padron, LFD and Liga Privada. Ironically we make a huge amount of cigars in the DR but most are for export and the ones that are available in the country are very limited. Sometimes I have to track some dominican made cigars online just to try them. Hopefully this will change with time. The #botl of DR is probably one of the main reasons I kept smoking cigars after trying it. How brothers would call and even share cigars with me, made me feel really welcomed to the cigar life. I'm sure it is the same with the online community.

Today I'll smoke a Padron 80 years maduro to celebrate the brotherhood.
Smoke on,

Victor aka. tocaco

Thanks! That is mainly because the cigar manufacture buildings are in zones where they pay no taxes and cigars are usually shipped out. To be able to sell them, they must pay import tax, which in the DR is pretty high. Government was supposed to be working on a bill to make lower or eliminate export zone taxes. Still waiting on that!

Great celebration cigar, Victor. Welcome to the board. I always thought it would "cigar paradise" living in the DR, but am surprised to hear that your cigar choices are limited. Hopefully that will change.
