Anyone try the new Monte by Montecristo that just came out a couple days? I wanted to get the opinion of you guys on it. I heard some people smoked it at the IPCPR.

Anyone try it yet? I had the corona sized pig tail, the Conde yesterday. IIt was was pretty good. Medium to full, with a creamy but full flavor. It also had a really good draw. I am curious about other peoples' feedback to see how my tastes compare with others.

I have had the Conde and the 60RG. Definitely worth trying and a fair value in the $10 range. I still think the Epic is their best but that's more like a $15 stick. Altadis is on a roll, with solid new blends from Romeo, Upmann and SLR in addition to the Montecristos.

I've smoked the Torpedo last week. Pretty good smoke. Good medium to full without a lot of spice. Good price point for a Monte.

Anyone else give this cigar a chance lately, and wanted to share their opinion?
Just curious, do you work for Altadis? You've said before that you work in the industry but didn't want to discuss specifics, made reference to working for a manufacturer, posted 3 times in this thread and posted about Altadis in other threads. Not a big deal as we are all about cigar discussion here, but might be better for you to be truthful and you might get better response and more discussion. Sorry if you have said where you work already... or you can tell me you don't work for Altadis and to STFU. LOL

And FWIW, I haven't tried this cigar.

I do work at Altadis. I wasn't trying to be dishonest. I didn't join this forum to garner info. I joined due to the fact that I am friendly with people on this forum, and they told me of the "brotherhood experience", and have a passion for cigars. Please be aware nothing I say or do in this forum should represent or reflect my employer. I simply have a passion for cigars. It might be best if I don't ask people for people's opinions of our cigars. I didn't join to get feedback, but I am curious as to if brothers like our cigars. That being said, I am curious about what people think of all cigars, which is why I've asked about the upcoming JdN and Christian Eiroa cigar. I like a huge variety in my cigars. My question about "too many store events" had more to do with the fact that my favorite B&M has seen a decline in interest in these events. I am curious as to why interest has waned. If you think it's best if I don't bring up my employer's cigars than I won't do that as I don't want to seem deceitful. I've really enjoyed the brotherhood aspect of this forum, and planning my bombings of brothers.

I've actually never been a big fan of the (non-Cuban) Montecristo line, until the Monte became available. I gave it a shot and really enjoyed them. I've smoked both the Monte and the Jacopo No 2.
I usually have a stable of Liga's, Opus and Tatuajes filling my humidor. I've added a few of each in the Monte line. Really nice burn with a medium to med-full body. I honestly say to my fellow enthusiasts, give them a try. Maybe you'll be as surprised as me.

Thanks for the PM earlier and good answer above. I personally appreciate when industry people come to BOTL and share their opinions and perspective. As long as you are upfront about it, it's all good. Just as long as you don't start doing a bunch of Altadis cigar reviews giving them all 97's, 98's etc. LOL

My question is... what's gonna happen to all your Cuban brand names once the embargo is lifted? Will be a major battle for the trademark names...

My guess is that the Altadis CC brands will hit the US Market relatively quickly distributed by Altadis, while the General brands along with Dan Cristobal, Cubao and others will be tied up in litigation. I bet they eventually settle and Altadis will distribute all CC in the US.

There will be some name changes but I hope some of my favorite NC versions of Classic Cuban brands stick around, especially H Upmann Legacy, Partagas 1845, and all 3 San Cristobal blends.

That's something I have no insight to, and have no idea what would happen if embargo was lifted.

You'll never see me do a review of our cigars as my opinion would probably be biased.

The embargo will come down when a President wants it and won't care about taking a political hit for it. I honestly thought Bush would at the end of his 2nd term, thats when it's likely to happen if Obama opts to do so. But it won't happen if there is too much international political distress as has been going on lately.

Aloha has the best response, as long as you say where your coming from its okay to put your opinion. And if you get the heads up on any contests or give away we love that stuff too.
