I prefer cello as there is less of a chance of wrapper damage when I am moving my sticks around. Time and time again people have said that there is no difference to the cigar whether its on or off. Some of the cello used is actually made from a wood product. Take the cello from a perdomo cigar and light it and it will smell like burning wood.

Cello off here. Feels more awesome to put into the humidor if I have to go through the chore of unwrapping it first. Also it does make me have to do a quick spot check just to see if there's any damage to the cigar.

I usually smoke my cigars with the cello off.......... Sometimes I'll smoke it with the cello on just for the buzz. :)
Now that's funny and I don't care who you are:ccool:
Well I sure am getting a lot of good info from you all. I also want to thank the guy who bumped the cello poll in the cigar section. This is a very interesting topic for me, but I am a pea brain. Don't take a lot to amuse me

take it off = awesome
leave it on...prude

In all seriousness though, I take the cello off. Just my preference. And of course I love cigars that come wrapped in wax paper and not cello'd.

I leave it on. I fight with high humidity through the summer. Have once or twice had mold bloom. It spread between a few unwrapped sticks near each other. The cellophane seemed to protect the wrapped cigars in the same area.

If cedar wrapped I remove both (mold paranoia), otherwise leave as is. Cutting the foot off of the cello makes sense too

Well, I spent the morning working in the horn shop and I spent the afternoon cutting the closed end of over 500 cigars and removing all the cedar sleeves from my 5-Vegas smokes. My dang fingers hurt....... But, it is done. It seemed to make a nice choice between the way I receive them and going totally naked.... Thanks for all the responses that were given....

Cigars age faster with cello off? I would be interested in seeing the study on that.
I believe this was a study done by Richard Hertz.

I always keep the cigars how they come to me, I have some pretty nice vintage and pre-embargo sticks that came in cello and have had the cello on them for in some cases 60yrs, not only are the sticks still perfect, the browning of the cello is just an added cool factor.

One more added benefit is that the cello protects the cigar, that being said to each their own.

My old humidor has all the cellos off... As I'm getting back into smoking after a cpl year break, I'm probably going to keep the cello on.

It always seemed like I couldn't smell the sticks accurately while "shopping" for what to smoke. They all smelled the same... though it did smell great in there.
