FWIW I don't have any personal experience but every time this question has been asked, people say "not really anything cheap you can buy there. Take your own sticks"

There are some really nice cigar shops in the DR.. especially in some of the areas frequented by tourists.... but.. as has been mentioned above.. prices are no lower (often times they are higher) than what you can get here in the US (depending on which state you are in)..

I havent toured any of the factories personally.. but I have been told there are some pretty cool tours you can do there.. that might be worth looking in to...

I was there a few years ago and this was the case. I did venture into a market one day and there was a guy set up rolling and selling bundles and on a whim I bought a bundle. They were terrible, kept them for about three years and ended up tossing them, they were that bad. If you want cigars while there you should just bring your own.
