Hey guys. I want a bachelors in project/construction management so I can go further in a similar field that I am in. I can't afford to not work an just go to school. I need to do both. Any suggestions or people with the same degree?

I worked with numerous people doing that. They all did it via night class at local colleges. Might be worth looking into.

The thing is, I can't afford to work in Arizona. Holy crap. I just answered my own question. If I need/want to attend college I can't live in AZ and work in ND. I need to move next door to Doug.

A co-worker of mine said his son took an online class during the summer and complained that it was crazy expensive. Like $2,000 for that 3 credit class which seems outrageous. I don't know the nature of the course, but the night class thing mentioned might be a good way to go.

Summer classes are almost always more expensive. Online classes are typically the same price as in-class ones, in my experience.

Anglia Ruskin University in the UK...

BBA in Project Management.. And MBA in Project Management are offered..

Fully accredited, brick and mortar school etc etc... That also offers distance learning degrees

And less than half the cost of most public universities in the US...

You might also want to look at project management certifications if classes are not a reasonable option. If you want to look into those check out pmi's website for the capm or pmp certs

If you're considering pursuing a PMP certification... Shoot me an email address via PM and I'll send you a bunch of really good study material...

PMP is worth it's weight in gold if you want to get into project management... Particularly for people in the IT, construction, and government contracting fields...

Been PiMP'in since 2009... Has paid for the trouble of getting it 100x over already...

If you do get your PMP, I can look into a couple contacts here for you for a gig as a construction inspector. It means being away from home even more, but the $s are plenty higher.

You know Doug, being away does not bother me. But right now I make roustabout wages with a company man lifestyle. If I want to continue to make the type of money I do and go to school, I can't live In AZ and work in ND. In a way it's beyond my means to take that much time off and do nothing beneficial. I need to make some sacrifices If I want to live like that. Then again ND is expensive. I have a lot to think about.

At my undergraduate university the online courses were much more expensive but their constructions engineering management program is top rate.

Yep, I gotcha bro, but the PMP doesn't take long from what I understand. I think the issue is getting the work experience to go with it. There are options for what you are seeking that will allow you to do both as you want. Just gotta seek them out. Looks like you are making a good start here. ;)

I did 100% of my studying and preparing for the PMP while sitting in a connex box in Afghanistan... You need 4 hours at an approved testing center (there will be several in both AZ and ND to choose from...)... Everything else can be done from anywhere you can read a book and/or get online... To include taking the necessary prep courses...

I knocked out an MBA while traveling all over the globe... The first couple of years I worked on it I was overseas 120-150 days a year...

You can do either (or both) from anywhere these days...

And if you shop around.. You can do it very affordably.. And still pick up a degree from a decent, respectable university...
