My goal is to connect my iPhone to access just the music, and I do not want a cassette/CDs adapter...so here is the question:

Does anyone know if it is possible to connect my iPhone using the standard audio that comes with a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Note that it has a 10 disc changer and I think the amp is under the back seat if that matters...

Thanks for any advice/suggestions!

Is there a jack somewhere in the car? The one in mine (a 2012 model) is under the compartment between the 2 front seats. Then I just turn my radio to AUX and it plays fine. It sounds though like you have an older car - I have an old Belkin system that you plug into the cigarette lighter and it searches for a free radio signal and then you tune into that and your iTunes music comes through great.

I don't know if it works for iPhone (I suspect it does) and if it does - I am no longer using the Belkin system and I can send to you. Let me find out tonight and I'll let you know.

you have to see if there is A AUX output on the back of the factory radio if there is you need a male on both ends AUX cable plug one into the back of the radio and run the wire someone to plug into the phone.. Another easy what to check is to see if there is a AUX input you can switch to on the front of the radio. if not you have to get a ipod adapter to hook up to the back of the radio. Hope this helps

Easiest way would be a portable radio jack that will broadcast your music to a radio frequency. Other than that there may be a way if you have an aux jack.

as has been said aux jack (shown) male/male cord (shown). 2001 I doubt it's there. Next step aftermarket and most are geared to work with the iPhone/iPod either with an aux cord or by Bluetooth. Some even work via USB storage as well and at this point are not very expensive. This is stock in an 07

Thanks for all the responses :)

So I will double check for an input on the front of the radio itself, although I am pretty sure there is not one. Then I'll check for an aux input on the back of the radio.

If you don't use the cd changer un plug from the back of the radio and plug in an adapter that will transition from that plug to Aux or USB hookup...avaiable at best buy a few years back. Had not had to look for awhile but would think they would still have

Here this is what you want. For the year of your car it is highly unlikely that you have an aux input unless you have an aftermarket radio.

I have an old "Belkin TuneBase FM for an iPod" - that I used with my iPod Classic for years. I no longer use it - however I don't know if an iPhone (I know zero about the iPhone) would fit in the base holder. I can send it to you and let you play with it. PM me if interested.

Here it is http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-TuneBase-Transmitter-ClearScan-iPod/dp/B000WW1YVU/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1385515835&sr=1-1

I like your ashtray/storage compartment! Aftermarket head units are very reasonable these days if you have to get one.

That's what I'd do. Aftermarket stuff is pretty cheap and the interfaces are great. At one point I was 4 15s 6 amps thousand of watts and 5 tv screens deep into car audio. Lol. The stuff that's available now blows my mind at the offered price points.
