I read some hit and miss reviews on this humidifier before I bought it, hoping that I would get one of the units that actually worked.

Has anyone here ever had one of these? Mine seems to have major issues with the settings. I could have it set to run at about 65% RH and it will allow my RH to drop down to 60% without turning on. Other times, I've had it set at 65% and it runs way up to 85% to the point that there's actually condensation building up and my cigars getting soaked. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this thing before I decide to scrap it and go with an Oasis?

I have zero experience with Moist N Aire...

but I have been running an oasis XL for a good while now.. and havent had any problems with it at all... kicks on as soon as humidity drops below 65... turns off as soon as the right RH is reached..

I know others havent had the same success.. but I have no complaints at all about the Oasis.. it has served me extremely well so far..

I've had the Oasis since it came out. Before I bought I read tons of bad reviews. Being a knucklehead I bought it anyway. I gotta say it's paid for it self 10 fold. Good luck in you search. Of course I use beads in my larger wineadors. Only problem with the moisten Aire is the size.

I use Moist Air in my humidors at the B&M. They work fine because I have to constantly adjust them. The setting knobs are useless. You can set it at 70 and it will run my humidity up to over 80. Every time I hear one click on, I go and check the humidity. If it reads 73, there is no reason for this to run so I adjust it off. If it reads 65 or less, I let it run and check it again in a couple of hours. I figured out how to use them and they work fine but it took me some time to figure it out.

For my wineador at home, I use a Oasis XL. I have had zero problems with this unit. I set it at 65 and it stays rock solid 65. When it beeps, I fill it. Very easy.

I had one in my cabinet and I can tell with 100% certainty that the humidistat it comes with is junk. It is a cheap analog unit mounted to the top and WILL fail. When it went out the first time I replaced it and mounted it outside the cabinet and that worked better but in the end I replaced the unit with one that is MUCH much efficient and not much more money. Depending on the size of you humidor there are a bunch of options out there and IMO a Moist-N-Aire shouldn't be one of them. I assume you are running a larger humidor if you are looking at this type of humidification set-up so here are a couple of other options. I bought a hurricane (You will have to call Stewart-Beckwith to buy the Hurricane).

I think i went overboard with the "bigger is better" idea. Our humidor is about 17 cubic feet, and supposedly the Moist N Aire can handle up to 50. So I figured, why not. WROOOOOONG. Thanks for the input guys. Wish I asked for help here before I bought the Moist N Aire. I'm thinking the Oasis with a couple of fans should be a perfect replacement. I've heard nothing but good things about it, and you've all confirmed that for me.

By the way, this is the display case that my dad and I converted into a humidor. Holds humidity great, but the Moist N Aire has been killing us. I just leave it in the off setting and check on it once a day.

Great looking Humi. Is the space on the bottom separate from the upper or is it one big open space? Its hard to tell from the picture.Just my .02 but I don't think you will get the production out of a cigar oasis unit either unless its running 100%. I would recommend finding something built for that size that wont have to work so hard to maintain the correct range. Good luck with whatever you end up choosing.

It's all one big opening. 2 sets of doors though. I guess for now I'll have to keep manually turning the humidifier on and off until I can find something better.

I have no experience with the Moist N Aire. You might want to check out the Accumonitor from Avallo. They have a system that will allow you to put humidity canisters in several areas including several small fans. I have a small cabinet humidor with their one canister unit and it works extremely well. With a four canister system you will get consistent humidity with a quick recovery when your door is opened. It is an investment, but well worth the money and piece of mind knowing that your smokes are being conditioned correctly.

First off great looking piece. Secondly, cast my vote in for the Accumonitor. Sure it's a bit more money but with a four canister system and probably about 6 small "computer" fans you will have a fail safe system that gives you piece of mind. Good luck and keep us posted.

No matter what you choose its important that it either has multiple units (Avallo; multiple canisters) or that your glass shelves hit the road lol. Your humidity isn't reaching the top of the case. Ive seen Moist-n-aires humidity HUGE amounts of room... but the humidor needs room to circulate the air, not just be trapped in the bottom. I know its one big "open" area but having glass (solid) shelves every 2 feet isn't helping the air circulate through.

If you grab an avallo with multiple canisters and place one every 2 shelves you should be golden. But it you want to be able to keep the unit, just make some wood shelves that are slatted, and the same size as the glass ones and replace them for good circulation. Just my 2 cents, but I've done it before with bigger units and humidifiers and its worked great.
