How's the zavvos smoke?
damn amazing. it is smallish, but perfect for a flake. burns dry and clean, passes a cleaner, has a slight tendency to get hot, but the texture on the "brushed" finish helps, and also, i smoke flakes in it. virginia base doesn't always want to play nice. the finish feels great in the hand, it is light as shit, and is a real looker. put it this way, i have my second one already, and a third en route now.

as an honest disclaimer, the second had a shattered stem in transit. i was kinda heartbroken, but dude answered my email in 18 hours, and has a new stem en route. no questions, no doubts, just "i'll fix it". also, it took nine days to reach me from greece, which doesn't suck for what it is. not for the impatient, but really quite good.

Thanks, think I will leap. Looked over his pipes for sale and am impressed. I too love flakes and that Zulu should be right up my alley.

today's work snack, some DE heirloom cherry in a basket prince:

it's not going to be a go to, but the DE cherry was worth the try, and something i will be going back to again. cherry enough to notice, aroma and palate, but tobacco-forward enough to feel honest. thanks for the recommendation, rex. o)

Started smoking my pipes again...man, it's been years. The good part is that I have a bunch of unopened tins from '08 and '09.

Smoked some Orlik Golden Sliced tonight from '08...so smooooth.

Can't beat that! What made you quit in the first place?
Not sure, really, I think I just got bored with it. Anyway, now I remember why I used to enjoy pipes so much as it's a great change of pace from cigars.
I totally agree. I go through phases where I like one more than the other, but it's nice to be able to choose. Welcome back to the fray. :)

Blackwoods out of the Sav Champagne while watching American Horror Story and doing dishes.

Have a cold front moving in with a serious ice advisory. Tomorrow should be interesting.

Got to enjoy a little night cap in my cob. Some warm weather with us today but we are getting a nasty cold front coming in too so I Know this maybe the last time I get to enjoy any smoking for awhile.
