Got my dad this for Xmas. Brand new, any tips on doing a first cleaning and lubrication. Who else has one of these bad boys?

Anyone ever used stuff from lubrikit.com? Have a kit from them

I'd just take the slide off, wipe it down and run a patch through the barrel. Nothing special needs to be done IMO/experience.

The first "duty" gun I ever carried was a 220.... excellent pistol...

Nothing special needs to be done.. standard cleaning and lube is all it needs/requires..

Wipe down all the surfaces and remove all the grit/grime that might have gotten on/in it during shipping/storage and general handling while it was at the gun shop...

Put a tiny bit of grease on all the friction points...

then go to the range and bang off a couple of hundred rounds..

then repeat the process as often and money and time allow...

It should be good to go from factory if brand new. You could always remove the slide and add a tiny bit of oil or grease and as stated by NCost just wipe her down. BTW, that's a very nice gift for your pops.

The only Sig I own is the P220. It's an older one made in Germany. I know it's a good shooter. Just need to take it to the range more often. Picked up a .22 conversion kit for mine. You may want to consider this your next gift for your Dad.

First off - Great Gun. I see you're in SoCal - so I know you'll be able to find this product - Look for Frog Lube - its great, and you can brush your teeth with it...if thats your thing.
The guy who created it is from the SD area, so most of the Stores around here carry the product line.
If for some reason you can't find that - try "FIRECLEAN" - another great product that will both Lubricate and Provide for easier cleaning. I use both on my guns - depending on my mood.
The FrogLube is Eco Friendly - and smells Minty. The FireClean works too.

It is an awesome piece of metal. I love the feel of if

Yea I read about the froglube awhile ago and never heard of fireclean. Will check them both out!

I saw people all over the place on whether to use grease or oil or a combo of both... Idk

It really doesn't matter. Just make sure the gun is wet, and you'll be fine. I bought a big jug of Mobil 1 for most of my guns. They run just fine.
