Or the opposite and it could be used by Politicos saying this is influencing kids to take up smoking. Just saying......someone with such a big rep is pushing for cigars will help us fight back against laws against cigars I am just saying.
I think you're assuming the worst, which is unlikely. I don't think politicos will be closely following this. Most B&Ms wouldn't sell a cigar to someone under 18. Also, Jay-Z's branding isn't necessarily aimed at teens. He markets to people in their 20's and 30's as well as those are the people who grew up listening to his music. He's been in the rap game for almost 20 years, and a lot of those people still buy his music and products 20 years later.Or the opposite and it could be used by Politicos saying this is influencing kids to take up smoking. Sorry to drive this thread off topic, but your experience doesn't reflect the reality of the situation IMO. Let's be real...prices on Liga in general are going up. 3 years ago I could find 5 Liga #9 robustos on Joe's Jam for $35....$7 a cigar. DE doesn't want their product discounted much though so they changed the way the contracts are structured and now they cant be sold for more than a 10% discount. I could also walk into a B&M 2-3 years ago and pick up LP robusto for 9.50. That same product now costs about 12.50 at my local B&M that I usually smoke at. I know I can find better deals around if I want to grab a box but in general if I show up and smoke somewhere $12+ for a single robusto is the price. A 3 buck increase in 3 years or less is nothing to sneeze at. (Over $5 if you include the insane low prices of Joe's Jam) A lot of people constantly come to DEs defense in things like this and say things like "the price increase is small, its not a big deal." Well guess what, by that logic there's been 6 "small" price increases and its starting to add up. Its went from the best cigar I've ever had for the money at $7 to about the limit of value to enjoyment ratio at $12.50. I love Liga products, but I wont be paying more than $15 for one with any regularity. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming. Two things - first, LPs are generally known for being good cigars. The same could be said about My Father, Tatuaje, and a number of other brands as you stated about LP - a celebrity could blend a cigar with them and the price would be less of an issue.
Second, LP prices haven't gone up much. Several years ago I couldn't find an LP9 box for under $260. Guys were buying them on Famous for $220 a week ago. They've stayed in the $10-12 range for a number of years now, at least from what I've seen/paid.

Mike, how old are you if you don't mind me asking? This could be a generational thing for some people. I know a lot of cigar smokers in their 50s and 60s might not be interested, because Jay-Z may not peak their interest due to a generational gap. I could imagine cigar smokers in their 20s and 30s being attracted to the cigar, because they have an affinity for Jay-Z. Not every cigar (or most products in general) are made to target every demographic pr every type of cigar smoker. With a limited production run they obviously don't need every cigar smoker to buy it, in order to be a success.I really can't see anyone coming into a B&M and asking for a Jay Z cigar. Just IMO.
To be completely honest I would probably be that guy who did that lol. But I like that type of music and so it'd be more of just a curiosity purchase. I'd also assume it would be decent as Jay smokes a lot of cigars and also doesn't want his name affiliated with something that's a bad product.I really can't see anyone coming into a B&M and asking for a Jay Z cigar. Just IMO.

I'm forty years old. I'm not saying they won't sell these cigars but im sure it will be a very limited market. I have an older school mindset when it comes to cigar smoking and the traditions and history that come with it. I know with time comes change but it's dissapointing to me to see all of the skulls, guns, monsters, devils and other craziness that this industry is creating these days. This hobby and lifestyle used to be all about class and the experience that came with these luxury products. Before someone jumps, I'm not saying people that purchase these don't have class. Smoke what you like but I think it's going a little to far and I really hope this is a passing trend.Mike, how old are you if you don't mind me asking? I'm with you on the more traditional design of cigars and marketing, but there is a cigar tailored to every different group or niche. I've smoked a wide variety of stuff, but I personally like the labels and boxes that are more classic in style. However, if a cigar is good, I'll buy regardless of the design. Like I said before, I'll wait to hear feedback on the new Jay-Z cigar before I consider buying it. My hesitation has more to do with the fact that I am not a fan of the Cohiba red dot brands. If I hear good feedback I'll consider smoking it.I'm forty years old. I'm not saying they won't sell these cigars but im sure it will be a very limited market. It's not personal. If you like these types of things that's perfectly fine. I have plenty of friends that are into it as well. Not commenting on what fireman said
