So I need to get a Christmas gift for a friend and if theres one thing in this world that he loves, its bourbon and whiskey. Unfortunately, the bottle I got him I just noticed in his liquor cabinet the other day, and I don't want to get him a dupe. I don't know much about whiskey/bourbon because I don't drink much of it and thus don't get into it. Just not my cup of tea. Unfortunately, it seems like he has had every major label and type. I'm looking for something that's small batch or somewhat limited that won't cost a fortune. $50-60 tops. Does anything like this exist? Can you please make any recommendations? Your help would be much appreciated.

Tough thing to recommend when we don't know what labels and brands he already has. But if it were me. Which I like a good glass of neat bourbon every now and night....... I'd be thrilled to get a bottle of my daily drinker. Wife bought me a bottle of double Oaked woodford (50) for my bday. I was just pouring the last drops the same week she gifted me the new bottle. Perfect timing on her part.

I would guess if he has it then he likes it and probably wouldnt mind another bottle. I like Blantons and it can be found. If you are looking to get him Scotch then a little research or a peek inside his bar would be helpful since they differ alot in taste. You can see what region the Scotch he has is from and find others from that region for him. Some can be really peaty and people either love it or hate it. Hope this helps. Sure there are many people on here with some good suggestions as well.

He likes scotch but its definitely not a go to like a regular whiskey or a bourbon would be. Noah's Mill looks cool but isn't available in MI, of course. The problem with that being MI restricts liqour purchases being shipped in state and most any distributor will refuse to do so. But I'd be willing to bet that's something hes never had.

Yeah he's not gonna be upset that you got him something he has if it's something he likes. If you're going for special and limited it's probably gonna break the budget.

think of it as getting guys here smokes. Some guys work in and run shops and getting them something they don't have or never had is near impossible. But a good stick from a good brother is always a good thing.

My recos. Woodford double Oaked. Eagle rare 12. Angels envy. And Buffalo trace is the best daily pour ever at the best price point ever.

You can pick him up a bottle Buffalo Trace, great stuff at a great price, Eagle Rare is food stuff. Single malt, I would go with Laphraoig quarter cask. Love that peaty taste.

I'll second the bookers and single barrel four roses suggestion.

Also, no one ever gave me even a swig of knob creek I didn't enjoy. Best middle of the road bourbon out there IMO, and personally I prefer it over anything else. No bourbon lover I know would furrow their brow at some knob. And considering where I live, that's quite a few people.

Angels envy is another kind of different one that your friend would appreciate trying if he's never had it.

Since he seems to have everything, a good gift for a whiskey enthusiast would be to get him a set of Glencairn glasses and have them engraved with something unique.
