So I'm a newb and this may or may not have been discussed before. That being said, what was the stick and what do you remember about the situation?

I remember mine like it was yesterday. I was 19 years old, sitting on my mothers deck one summer evening. It was an Ashton aged Maduro, a torpedo. It was powerful to say the least, especially for my first stick. So what of it guys, anybody else remember theirs?

First off, welcome!

Just want to be clear on what you are asking...Most cigars are made by hand. Did you mean a premium cigar, meaning a more expensive cigar?

First non machine made cigar was a Padron 2000 probably why I still love them. First premium cigar was a Padron 1964 Anniversary. I guess I got a thing for Padrons. Especially Jessica Padron. ;D

Mine was a Macanudo Portofino at a wedding about 20 years ago. A couple guys were smoking them and they smelled so damned good! They offered me one and I really liked it. Considering prior to that I was smoking Garcia Vega and Marlboro.

I don't recall exactly. I went to the local shop and had the owner pick one out for me for the Y2K evening and lit it up after the ball dropped. I figured if we were still here I was going to enjoy a good smoke. I hadn't smoked before that since I quit cigarettes in 1986. After that I bought nine various types to try out and that got me hooked.

My first cigar was a cc partagas on my friends roof overlooking the golf course with a bourbon drink in hand. I was 16 or 17. Night got better from there but I'll leave it at that.

Man, many of you had some pretty good first ones. Mine - Arturo Fuente short story. Pretty much my brother and I decided to try one for the first time for the heck of it. Went to local tobacco shop in Saratoga Springs, NY and picked up a few. Had no clue at that time what was what. That was about 1996. Man time flies when smoking cigars! ha

I am not sure what mine was. I was from a video store that was local in our area. The guy that ran it never carded us when we bought it. I think I was 16 or somewhere around there. I remember it smelling like strong horse manure but it did actually taste pretty good.

My first was a Cohiba, the year they started distributing to places outside the US. My friend's dad had them (he was saving them because of the embargo and couldn't get them as easily as he once could) and we took em out of this tin box and smoked them in his dad's den office. His parents were away for the day so we thought there wouldn't be any problem... a little Lysol (yes, that was invented by then) and we'd be ok, right?

WRONG.

Just a couple cigars and a day with a buddy.

It did NOT turn out well for him.....

That was 1982.

I think my first smoke that got me into cigars was an Avo #2! That was Spring of this year and I was celebrating being pain free after spending 2+ years recovering from a Cervical Fusions (#3-5). Life is Good!
