Hey guys,

I know many of you have your packages sent to your workplace.

When you receive Registered Air Mail from overseas is your secretary able to sign for it...or does the postman require you to sign for it.

The reason I am asking is because I just found out today that I am leaving for Omaha for two weeks on Sunday to work on the proposal for a potential contract.

The problem is...I have about six boxes (not all for me) on their way to the office right now.

Has your secretary been able to sign for you?

Our receptionist has signed for everybody's packages (UPS, USPS, registered mail, DHL) with no problems.
They don't care who signs for it, as long as somebody signs. The only restriction would be if you were ordeing booze and they required somebody 21 to sign for it.

Yeppers, Anyone can sign for if from the vendor I think you used. I think one time I signed for cause I saw the postman walking in with my packages. It is more to ensure the to the vendor someone received the package and that was not lost.

I've never signed for anything delivered to a business, but I sign for UPS packages all the time that my sister and her husband order. And they don't seem to care...
You should be good to go worry free.

Cool, thanks guys...just in case I typed up a little "authorization" letter and signed it.

The secretary can give that to the mail man.

I send and receive a buttload of certified mail and FedEx parcels here at my office.

Your receptionist should have no problem at all signing for a USPS delivery. Ours does it daily. The only exception that comes to mind is when the packaged is sent with the Restricted Delivery option. That's a "green card" extra-fee service ($3.70) that ensures only the intended recipient receives the package. Otherwise, the mail carrier will get pretty much anyone at the delivery address to sign for it.

Just be aware of the consequences of using your work address if your package gets "lost".
Yes, I am well aware of this...it is the first time I have things sent to my office because of this.

The problem is...my Dad is on travel for another month so he is having his packages sent to my house instead of his, since he won't be home and will be here at my house on the 1st.

I did not feel comfortable having his four packages and my four packages all converging on my house at the same time.

Sorry bro,

I don't have a secretary, and if an overseas package was sent to my work addressed to me they would probably blow it up. :timebomb:

Those are the perks of the federal government.
