Opus X education help

So I need some help, got a few Opus X questions.

1. Is there anything different about the 2005 Opus X versus fresh opus X other than the age?

2. Is the Opus X Destino al Siglo cigars a different blend than the normal production Opus X?

3. What is the difference with the Angels Share Opus in comparison to the normal production Opus X?

I've smoked several of the Destino al Siglo Opus X and they for some reason don't have the flavor and nuances of regular Opus X, they are missing that citrus flavor and amazing aroma.

So I'm all ears on any Opus X related info you have, I'm always trying to learn more!

The angels Share Opus X is blended with a milder tobacco, rather than the spicier blend, the one I smoked was more cedary and had cocoa notes. It was good, but I wouldn't go out an buy a box. I have two more that I will let age. I so look forward to see how these age,

Angels share usually refers to beers and other libations that are done in prior bourbon barrel, Lost Abbey has a. Great beer named after this. It's the portion of bourbon lost through through evaporation and seeping into the wood.

As for the difference between age and non aged Opus, I prefer them with age. The blends ages so well and is more pleasant to me, but that is just HMO,

To expand on Bills comments.

The Destino al Siglo uses a Habano seed wrapper where the traditional Opus uses a Corojo.

The Angel Share uses a lower priming for the wrapper which results in a bit milder flavor of the cigar


As far the difference between an 05 and a current regular production Opus they are technically the same blend, but being a natural product there will be slight variance from year to year. I think you would only find a handful of people that prefer fresh opus to aged.

Love that after being around a while I still learn something new. Never knew that about opus, but also haven't smoked one in a couple years. Got some 2011's that I'll check out in 5 or 6 years.

Thanks for the info guys, I need to try and find a few Angel share Opus,
I am not really a big fan of the Destino Opus, but I guess I'll age a bunch and revisit them in a few years.

Those are the Fuente Forbbiden X 13 series, Those are absolutely amazing cigars, I need to find a few more. I've looked for info on them but there isn't much out there.

I have heard that they are higher priming wrappers than normal opus, IIRC. i know for a fact that the forbidden 13 series is made out of deliciousness, though. o)

The Forbidden 13's have the same wrapper as the AF13's that are at Casa Fuente; not really my cup of tea but the blend evens it out/makes it a nice smoke.

No he actually went and got some opus to age a few days ago.

True that Craig, but always grab a few Fuentes every year in case things change. I dropped a few hemi ss maduros in the cooler the other day and saw i have a couple different sizes of the opus 13. Honestly dont remember where I bought them or when.
