Another Reason to Pay an Extra Dollar to Your B&M

I know, I know, I am preaching to the choir here, but I had an experience today at my local B&M that showed, once more, why I will try to support them over the online stores: even if I have to pay an extra dollar or two per stick.

I had a La Flor Dominica in my tupperdor that had a couple of mysterious holes in them (mysterious to me, that is). I didn't think they were caused by beetles but I am as qualified a judge in beetle damage as I am a judge of quality Tibetan Throat Singing. So I went into my B&M this afternoon, pulled out the cigar in question, and showed him.

It was just wrapper damage but, besides being able to tell me that, he also told me why it wasn't beetle damage.

That's something that just can't happen with an online store.

At any rate, yeah. If you have a good B&M locally, definitely support them.

Not to my knowledge... Tibetan throat singing is a trip. You should check some out. There are videos on YouTube. (edit: rdomfoto beat me to it.)

As for the OP, I'm glad you were able to offer up one more example of why B&Ms are so important. There are a lot of newer brothers around as of late, and I'm sure I wasn't the only noobie that was favoring "deals" rather than service.

I'm on board with you in supporting the local guys...but price has a limit a well.

I've recently bought 3 boxes of cigars. $450 to me from online stores. Had I bought them at my B/M (he doesn't carry any of the ones I ordered but could get them for me) they would have been >$700 w/o tax. That makes box purchases from him hard.

With that said, I buy my singles from him, I rent a locker from him, etc...so it evens out in the end. I also don't smoke online purchases in his shop (unless I take him one to try) .
