I received some Nica Libre 1990 Torpedo from a well know online site yesterday that have a completely different band from the ones I got 2 weeks ago. It's plain black and gold instead of the usual maroon and gold band. I contacted the dealer and they said that the cigar probably just got a new band. I know it happens, but seems kind of odd to go from what I consider a nice known band to a plain uninteresting band.

Has anyone else purchased these in a while and got a new band?

theyre a CI/C.COM exclusive, where did you get them from?
pics would help too.

the potencia have the same band, just a secondary band below.

i got a box a few months ago, and a few 5 packs a few weeks ago, same bands as always.

I'm having trouble figuring out how to upload a single pic from my galaxy s4.
yeah i know what you mean, that's why i was kinda happy the day i dropped my s3 into the toilet, shouldve never left ios for that stupid bigger screen.

anyways Lomey emailed me the pic, here it is.

im guessing they're trying to shake the padron clone stigma with a different band ? ?

reminds me of the dark corojo bands which imo is one of the best looking bands on the market

Both the Nica Libre and Potencia are really good cigars and it's been a year at least since I've order the Nica Libre...so not sure about the change in band color. It was a band that pretty much copied the Padron one...that tended to diminish it's popularity a bit as a "knock off" but it's a good cigar. Probably a good idea for them to change the color so it can stand out on it's own. I've just checked a lot of the online places as well as CI and Cigars.com and don't see any change in bands...even Google'd the change...don't see anything on it.

will probably start seing them, im guessing they planned it for the new year.
theyre one of the few NC that date their boxes, i've got a box dated 10/15/2013 with the old band, so it's very recent that they started with these....

i've got a 5 pack of robustos coming with my CB weeky on tues or weds, ill let you all know what band they have.

Nica Libre is a standard in my humi but mine all have the "old" bands. It'll be interesting to see what I get the next time I order them.

I used to love these but ran into several in a row that were terrible. Kind of ruined them for me. Hope no one else has had that problem because it generally was a good smoke.
