Stepping out of my desktop 50 count and into the big leagues. When this is done I may have to start my own payment accout so I don't get divorced filling this beast up.

Just started this the other day. Picked this wine cooler up for free since it doesnt work. The coolomg system doesnt work but since this will reside in my basement office where its always air conditioned and temperate I don't think I'll need it. I'm building a fancy coolidor basically.

First step was to pull the busted compressor, no sense in having broken parts in it. Pretty easy, clipped 2 cooling lines a power line and 4 bolts and the compressor was out. 4 more screws and the cooling coil was in the garbage. I sealed everything up and am waiting for that to cure so I can start deodorizing the unit. I'll post updates as I work on it. Any insight or suggestions would be helpful and appreciated since this is my first build.

One thing I learned that surprised me, was that even though like yours, mine was used, I still had to do extensive cleaning to get the smell out.

I did the baking soda scrub down, then stuffed newspaper left in there with the door shut for about 3 days.

The stuffed newspaper is basically the poor mans version of putting activated charcoal in there. Not that activated charcoal is expensive at all.

What I mean is I used newspaper to avoid making another trip to the store (laziness).

You can start with either one or, better than that, BOTH of these steps: baking soda scrub down and/or distilled vinegar scrub down.

Some may consider doing both overkill, but if you have the time to do it right, I say why not do both.

Although, I only did 1, the baking soda, and I am happy with the end result. My unit is however smaller than yours.

Just figured I would give input having done this for the first time 2 weeks ago. Have fun and please post more pics.

Moved in! One more tray to fill. The boxes are empty and just space fillers for now. I'm pretty excited. Thanks to cgraunke for helping me through this!
