I suppose it is like when Anheuser Busch was sold in 2008 to Belgium - Brazilian company InBev. Either we fully embrace the globalization of the markets or else.

A sad day indeed.

Having just left a Japanese company, my guess is they will leave it business as usual for a few years and those that want to stay in their jobs will. Their model is to send some rising stars in their organization over to embed themselves in the U.S. operation and ask TONS of questions. I found this list of brands and owners on another thread that some of you may find of interest.

It won't matter. It's where the end profits will end up. It will still be the same bourbon you always drink, made the same way w/ the same ingredients.

Do you feel the same about Fiat owning 100% of Chrysler as well? ;)

I get it from a business standpoint globalization is scary from the aspect that American companies aren't fully owned by Americans. I totally understand why it has to happen though. Remember fiat is not the first foreign entity to have a big piece of Chrysler. At least their making a better product now 😉

But Fiat is the first foreign company to fully own Chrysler. They started slow like Diamler did, but Diamler was never fully committed. Fiat recently finished the purchase to raise their stake/ownership to 100% to stop Chrysler from having an IPO. Diamler never owned more than 52%. (Diamler is one of my customers and I was involved in a lot of their back and forth with Chrysler)
