I just got a cab of punch super selection no.1 from mar 2002 and I was wondering if anyone could give me any idea how these cigars compare to the Royal selection no. 11 from around the same year. I am waiting at least a month to try one of these cigars and I am planning to let the rest age a bit. I am thinking of possibly smoking this cab and buying another one to age. What should I expect?

Not smoked any myself, but from reading, these take a lot longer to mature than the RS11. Both are stong in the Punch profile with similar tastes.
I'm not a huge punch fan but they will knock you on your butt. I think everyone picks up on different flavors and punch for the most part don't do it for me. Right now I'm really getting into the Bolivar line.
That's funny you say that you are getting into the bolivar line, I am an avid bolivar smoker and recently grew tired of the taste, I have since smoked more punch cigars because I enjoy strong cigars, but wanted a different profile. Don't get me wrong, Bolivars are my favorite cigars, I just want to give my punches and H upmann's some time smoking as well. Do you smoke many magum 46's? They really do it for me as a strong and complex cigar.
Yea I have a cab of Mag 46's and enjoy them alot. They are one of the few that smoke good young IMHO. You know I think my issue with punch is that I have been smoking them way too young. It's like Cohiba...I won't smoke anymore of them until they have at least 3 years on them. It's really hard to judge a smoke that is young. Bolivar is a line that I have totally ignored until recently. I can't believe what I have been missing out on. Tripp spoiled me with that gold medal then I went on a search for some nicely aged smaller Bolivar. The Bolivar PC from 97 is very very good.

Young and Aged, bolivars never fail to deliver a satisfying smoke. I agree with you on Punch cigars, I am buying punch cigars to age long term, I feel that smoking them young is a terrible waste. You can literally smoke a young punch cigar and see its potential for aging, with all of the tanic taste. I can't wait for my punch cigars to finally mature!
