Any Baseball Card Collectors?

I just went to an estate sale, and picked up some baseball cards! Not sure if I have anything of value, but one card really has me wondering if I may have gotten a gem....

It's a sealed pack, 1983 Donruss Action All Stars set, which includes card #3 (Reggie Jackson) with the printing error (red border is covering some of the stats on the back).

Before posting this, I did check eBay, Amazon, and several online card sites, but it was hard to find any info on this card.

I was able to determine that there was an error card printed, and then a corrected card printed (without the red border over the stats). I guess just like any collectible object, it all depends on how many were printed of the error card...

Would love any info that anyone may have! Thanks in advance

Don't know about that specific card but I've got several misprint cards and most aren't worth anything much now.

The bottom has really dropped out of almost all cards unless it's pre 74 or so

Go to a comic book store (or you might find it online) and get a copy of Beckett. I used to collect back in the 80's and early 90's and Beckett was the go-to guide for card prices. I remember the 83 Mattingly Rookie card going for $30 at one point. Don't know what it's worth now though, but I still have one. I thought about collecting again, especially since sets are so cheap. Never know when you will get the next rookie sensation.

I also remember and Al Lieter card (don't remember the year thought) that went for some pretty good money back then because one of his teammates prior to the photo shoot wrote "Fuck You" on the knob of his bat as a joke. Topps never caught it and it went into release before they realized it and had to air brush it out.

I had friends that collected basketball cards and would always hang on to the hottest, most valuable cards they found. I always sold them to the card shop immediately and watched as the value dropped month by month. Never made any sense to me to hang on to.

Yes, it was Cal Ripken.....Al Lieter's I think was printed backwards or with the wrong guy or something like that. My bad.

No sorry your not going to be able to retire on that card won't even get you a coffee at starbucks. like kantucky said market for "modern era" cards has bottomed out due to the fact that the so many were printed and everybody collected them. $5.00 if you find the right buyer, but realistically $2.00 - $2.50 and you'll only get those prices if you get card graded at least a 7 the grading process cost you $20 bucks. sorry to burst your bubble.

Well, I bought like 100 cards, including some sealed Kellog's Corn Flakes cards, a a couple Angels players that I like, and paid 10 bux, so I guess it could have been worse.

I'll just tuck them away, and maybe my daughter can sell them one day

$10 bucks hey not bad deal at all, it just sucks that during 80's and 90's they just printed so damn many cards that even errors had high printings. and of course every kid held on to their collection thinking it was going to be worth millions. I for sure thought i was going to be able to sell my 1981 fleer Fernand (misspelled the name on card) Valezuela Rookie card for $500 dollars, still looking for a dodger fan crazy enough to pay that.

Mattingly's rookie card was 1984. He is my all-time favorite player, and still have all three rookie cards of him from 1984.
