OK, so this question is for my norther brothers. How do you deal with the cold dry air? I have my desktop and my tuperdoor both fairly full and have noticed that my destop (glass top) has had a low humidity level the past few weeks, 60% or a touch lower. I'm running 3 72% bovedas in there to try and bring the humidity up a little. They Boveda's feel fine and don't seem dried out but my hydro still reads low. I've moved them both to a warmer lcoation in my house with no change.

I'm working on converting a wine fridge to a coolidor (no cooling needed where i'm at) and don't want this to become an issue with a larger volume of cigars. Does anyone have any thoughts/advise? Thanks guys!!

My cabinet seems to dip down to 61-62 on the extremely cold days. My desktop rises up to 70-72 which is odd. Maybe you want to use weaterstripping to improve the seal?

I have had similar issues. I literally have been adding water everyday. it took a couple days of adding water everyday before it finally started to get back to the 64% -65% I like.

Are you using bovedas?

If you have them in a small-ish room, grab a humidifier off Craigslist or at Home Depot. Run it in the winter and adjust to the level you want. It'll help keep the air which is circulating in and out of your desktop humid too....

I do this in a small reading room where I have a desktop and it helps a lot.

Both my glass tops have had the same issue with this cold snap (low 60's in each normally 65-68). I moved both to my coolidor and now they are at 68% :) Not a whole lot you can do its been so cold its tough to keep humidity in. FYI I use 72% bovidas as well.

Same here in NY.
Hopefully I can limp along until my wineador is ready
If youre worried you can always transfer to tupperware, but they will be fine IMO. Too cold to smoke outside anyway ;)

The humidity in your house will play a part. I keep my house in the winter 45% and I use a half pound of 65% beads and a 65% boveda pack or two. I have a large glasstop too and I never have issues holding humidity. I did the same thing while living back in Green Bay. I can't speak about the tupperdor never did one of those.

It's colder than shit here in Ohio too. My coolido in the basement status about 60 degrees 62% all winter. My sticks smoke just fine. If yours do to, don't worry about it. If you are having burn or draw issues then move the containers to a warmer room temp and rh go hand in hand.

I'm in St. Louis, extremely cold here. My 50 count desktop is rather full, and I have two 69% bovedas in it, and my rh has been sitting at about 63% and I've seen it drop as low as 61%. I'm a noob and it was getting me worked up but my sticks still burn great, taste great, so I've found some peace of mind.

My house drops to about 35% RH in the dead of winter and my humidor can't keep up. I use a shot glass with a piece of the absorbent foam in it and add some distilled water. I put it in the humidor to add the extra RH that I need.
