So today, I got an email notification from CB saying that I won a box of cigars. I haven't drank in over a week, so I wasn't drunk. Then I remembered that I put an initial bid on some special they were running. I've done it multiple times before, but I've always been out bid. Not this time. I followed the link in the invoice and it said "Private Auction" instead of the usual quickie/box/etc. Therefor, I have a box of 25 La Aurora 1495 Series Belicosos. Has anyone ever accidentally done something like this, or am I the only idiot:squinteye?

Also are these any good?

I've done it with watches on eBay. A few times. I place a bid without really thinking. Or thinking I want it. Then as the auction goes on.... I realize I don't want it and start praying to the gods I get outbid. Then I get to pay for a watch.

Or I bid on something while drunk. And forget about it

No, I've never bid on something I didn't want. The 1495 is not a bad cigar, but they are no longer made, and on close out. I'm curious what you paid (CB won't let me play in their sandbox anymore, so I can't check).

Sorry, I thought I posted that in the initial post. For the box of 25 I paid $59.95.

Not "accidentally" but I did put a bid on a wheel of 30 cigars for $7, laughing at the time thinking that I would never get them. Then all of a sudden I get the email notice saying I won. Wow, how crappy are they that I got 30 for $7?

I'll let you all know later this Spring.

Holy crap. What were they called?

Philly blunts aren't even that cheap.

Shit. That's the cost of a pack of cigarettes.

Sorry, it was a wheel of 20 - PdR Fumas Petite Coronas. They smelled quite bland (hardly any arome) when I first got them but once they were out of the cellophane for a few days they opened up and smell pretty good.

Haven't tried one yet. They're pretty small, probably about a 30 minute smoke at most.

If you got banned from cigarbid, that's a story that I'm curious about. As for subverting. Any VPN will remedy that situation.

Less than $3 a stick for a decent smoke like that... WINNER

He was honest and spoke the truth. And it hurt their feelings.
Thats sucks! You cant even express how you feel without someone getting butt hurt about it. Good thing there are plenty of other sites to choose from.

4 years, 7,000 posts, thousands of dollars spent, and one day I find my account suspended with no explanation. I guess when someone (not naming names as this could be anyone) buys up the rights to name brand labels, has them rolled by the lowest bidder using inferior tobacco, and then tries to pass them off to their customers are the original, they don't like it when they get called out on it.

As far as subverting goes, I really don't have a desire to go back right now, even though I've been asked by several board members to do just that. But sooner or later, I'll run out of Genesis Projects, and will have no other choice.

PDRs used to be my favorite $1 super cheapie. In fact the Obsidian PC is still my go to $1 short smoke. IIRC, the Fumas are mixed filler, so I've stayed away from them. Abe Flores tends to blend a "better then some others" cigar, so as long as the construction is OK, they should be smokable.

Not accidently, but I have won many cbid auctions with lo-ball bids that I didn't plan or expect to win. Got one just this past weekend - box of La Duena for $70. Now, I have no room, whatsoever, for another box of cigars. And this isn't even my favored vitola, by any means. But....we don't call it the Devil Site for nothing

before you could pick your day to ship on CB, i would always try to tack on a few things late to take advantage of low shipping for extra items. the amount of times i bid on something that went over my ship date, thus starting a new shipping period with the full S&H, is ridiculous. Learned to just laugh at my self.

a guy i met once said "if you cant laugh at yourself, you miss some of life's best jokes"
