Dude next to me in the lounge is trying hard to finish his *exploding* Gurkha Cellar Reserve maduro. The only thing worse than how it looks is how it smells.

EDIT: he pitched it!

Too bad. The regular Cellar Reserve is a good smoke, one of the very, very few Gurkhas I enjoy. Haven't tried the maddie yet

Gurkha reminds me of Invicta if you know watches. They should be run by the same company.

This made me laugh. Just imaging a stick exploding and a guy trying his hardest to smoke it. The image in my head is comical.

Only thing I really liked from Gurkha was the Black Ops line.

Man, what humidity are they keeping the humidor there? I've only had extreme cracking when its been when I forgot to check my beads and smoked a half dried one.

I smoked the maduro cellar reserve last night. Tastes like coffee and dirt.
In a good way or a bad way? Cause my T52s also taste of coffee and earth...
That would depend on you. That's why I didn't say. It started out awesome but half way through the second third it was too earthy for me. I still nubbed it because even though it was too earthy for me it wasn't all that bad. It does have a lingering odor more than most cigars, and the room note isn't pleasant according to my girlfriend it's "the most old man smelling cigar you've ever smoked" lol.

Other that the horrible construction issues I've had with them. My main complain is, I've never had a single one that didn't have a dirt taste a main profile flavor...No Thanks.

I think there's a huge difference between the earthy/umami flavor of a T52 and a cigar that tastes like it's been rolled around on the ground.

To me. It tasted a bit like someone rolled it in the mud. Lol. But I don't like a super earthy cigar most days.

Bah. I kinda wanted to hate it without trying it. Now I have to try it and see for myself.

New lingo learned: "room note." I like it!

And yeah, the entire reason I noticed the cigar at all was the smell. NOT cool. Then I saw how it was unraveling. I had to wait til he gave up to snap a (shitty) photo cuz I didn't want to embarrass the guy.

I thought the Maddie was terrible. Didn't even get 3/4 of an inch and tossed it...
Just my opinion. Everyones tastes are different. Might as well try it

I did a side-by-side smoke off and found both of them to be quite tasty. These two and the 125th are some of the nicest sticks to come out of Gurkha's stable in quite some time.
