I've been reading reviews that state that the cigar compares favorably to the Liga Privada #9, and at less than half price.

I would think its fair to say it's the poor mans #9. With three months rest it becomes a decent cigar. And I just got a fiver off the devil site for ten bucks. So for a fifth of the cost of the #9 it's a decent smoke. I wouldn't put it up side by side and say they are equal quality. But for the price. It's not bad at all

i think that the genesis is a great smoke especially for the price. its strange though because one of the sticks i smoked had a taste of sea salt. other than that stick the others have been amazing.

I've heard this, too but it's not the same. They used to make a cigar called Puros Heurfanos 681 years ago that were pretty darn close to the LP 9...a brother of the leaf used to work for DE and told me that they are basically the same cigar and I bought boxes of these and am down to one box. With rest on them they are amazing.

Excuse the thread jack, but heck yea, those where good. I forgot all about them. Thanks for the memories. It's been a few years, but IIRC, DE had a production run going for the new LP 9 when Steve decided to change from blend A to blend B, or something like that. The PH 681 where supposedly that cancelled production run.

cigary, thanks for the news about the Buesos and the LP9. To my mind, not having smoked either, $96.00 for a box of the Buesos and $250.00 for the LP9s says DE is making more money for their cigars, but also that DE gets many more dollars of revenue to do more things right, or very well. There's a difference between making big bucks on one's overpriced product and using the same dollars to ensure its excellence; and in most cases I tend to believe the latter. If something is seriously overpriced, competition will prove that that is so?
