Whatsup guys, just a thought.. wanted to get some opinions on humidification:

I am in the process of making my wineador and am tossing between beads and bovedas or a Cigar oasis, hydra, humicare etc.. I have the Newair 281E and am getting drawers and a shelf from Forrest.

I currently have beads in my humi now so I would need to buy maybe 1 more pound maybe two just to help with the dry air here now, It wouldn't hurt..

Let me know from your experiences or just wisdom!

Thanks!

I'm currently using 2lbs of HCM beads in my vino. I thought about cigar oasis but the vino has the fan under control for air circulation so just beads and boveda for me so far. .

I'm just in the process of putting together a new and larger Tupperdor and thought about this myself. I decided to go with the beads (KL, actually). I don't mind having to spray them occasionally and it's one less thing to add to my electric bill.

Also, and I could easily be wrong so take this with a grain of salt, but it seems to me that if your storage unit (a wine fridge, cooler, Tupperware, etc.) is properly sealed, you shouldn't get too much air loss and a passive system like beads would be suitable. I see the active units in operation more where you can't properly seal the environment.

I've never used a cigar oasis. I did, however, consider one for a while, but after doing some research I was scared off of them. Plenty of people have had more issues than one might prefer with them and lots of people have had them just go to crap after a year or so. Having said that, plenty of people also have never had an issue but I didn't feel like shelling out the dough on a product that might have sketchy quality issues. I ended up getting the set and forget Aristocrat model instead of worrying about rather or not cheaping out will cost me later. I'd really hate to be gone for a week and have the thing die and my cigars are just sitting there until I can figure out a better humidification option. I figure when we store as much value as we have in a cabinet spending a bit more to protect the investment is worth it in the long run.

I run 2 active units... Ive got an Oasis XL in the bottom of my cabinet, and a Hydra S near the top (its a 6' cabinet).. I picked both of them up on trades here..

Ive been running the Oasis for a while.. but only put the Hydra in a little over a month ago.. but so far, Ive been really pleased..

I also keep several boveda's in the cabinet.. as an insurance policy in case the power goes out, a unit craps out, etc..
