Once you develop the taste for them, there's no such thing as too bitter. Sadly they don't really pair well with any cigars that I know of. Or food. Or anything at all, really. But they sure are a treat. Make sure to look for that Firestone Walker Double Jack.

The ones at the top are all gimmicks, as the human palate cannot detect anything beyond 100 IBUs or so (of course there's some difference from person to person). IBUs = international bitterness units. The Hop Stoopid and the Ruination, at least, are accessible in AZ.
Well, the REALLY hoppy ones -- 100+ IBUs -- basically wreck your palate for anything else for a few hours. That's mostly double IPAs, though -- not sure if you've had any of those.
