Sorry guys had to show off my first "big" order I've received. Note I say first because well...there will be more. I got the 92+ rated sampler for $28, 5 joya de nica fuerte serie b for $11 and the 5 Vegas 4 pack sampler for $7. Fairly happy with how I did, saved a good bit I think. Thoughts? Opinions on some of these sticks? Will start burning them soon.

That 92+ sampler looks like a nice collection. The JDN Fuertes retail for only $44 a box, so you basically paid retail for that fiver. I've never had one of them, but the Antanos are a solid smoke, and the dark Antanos are one of my go to smokes. That triple A is an AJ blend using a PA Broadleaf wrapper. If you like that one, go for some Diesel UCs. Same wrapper, same blender, but far better flavors.

Word of advice. Stay away from their massive selection of dog rockets, especially the entire La Perla line, Torano Noventa and almost all their Gurkhas. These are not what they claim they are.

Use caution on there. I'm very competitive by nature and hate losing but you can't be afraid to lose on that site or else you'll end up paying way more than you want to. Nice pick up though.

Not a bad start. I really like that ladc. So it begins...

I recommend downloading the chrome ext for cbid to see bid data and good price vs bad price. There is a thread on here all about it or Google for Reddit created cigarbid chrome extension.

Happy bidding

The Perla maddies are good with a bit of age, I only sat a fiver for about 4 months and they weren't bad at all.

It may have been "not bad at all", but before CI got ahold of the line, they used to be a premium brand earning many +90 ratings. I still have some of the original Morados left. If you want, I'll send you a couple once I'm back in Jersey (about 2 weeks). PM me your addy if you're interested. These are the ones that won the 93 rating, not the current dog rockets that CI is selling under the same label. Get one of CI's Morados, and smoke it next to one of these originals, and then you'll understand the truth.

Thanks for the words of wisdom guys. I was sure to price compare between ci and cbid and had max bids set so I wouldn't go over. Will definitely get that chrome plugin for next go round. I've had one of the black pearls aging from another sampler for a couple months now and will try to compare to the newer one.

Very generous. And also correct, as soon as you ash one of the or black pearls you will know the travesty that ci has made of the line

Sad to hear this! But now I'm curious to know what else they have taken from great to garbage...interesting. Will have to burn one and see if I have the dog rocket experience :dunno:

Hope that goes away soon! I enjoyed the JdN, had one last night, the first bit was full of bold spice, but mellowed out and was really nice down to the nub. Had some burn issues as well but the flavor was nice for a late night stroll through the neighborhood.

Anyone besides me reluctant to discuss some cbid buys in fear of drawing attention to certain sticks you get at good prices?

Thanks! I like cigar auctioneer too. My average for sticks like nubs, Cain, JdN are about 3$ each.

Lol remember opinions are just that. They are like the one thing every animal has.... and coincidentally were those so called "rockets" come from. :eyebrow: But yes agreed you have to be careful what you buy, but that is from even the best boutiques. A little education and research goes a long way. Be leary of sponsor driven oppinions especialy. I do disagree however I have not unenjoyed any Ghurka I have yet to buy. That said I buy there more limited or shorter run lines mid to higher priced. And Yes i still enjoy my 1 year soaked Widow Makers!
But as I said those are only my opinions

Doc :cbig:

I think it is every cigar smokers duty to spend some time on the devil sites... We've all done it, and we all thought we were getting smoking hot deals.

The sites are good for picking up random things you may want to try that most folks don't bid on... Like, I scored some Fuente Candelas for less than 3.50/stick. Sometimes you can even land yourself some deals on the less popular sizes, but you have to do more than price compare at CI. Shop around. Sometimes our sponsors have great deals running. Have fun surfing the web, and drooling over cigars.
