Seriously though I take mine off because it's (correct me if I'm wrong) mainly for wrapper protection and I store mine in a way that I know pretty much where every thing is so I don't rummage thru mine a lot.

What about the plastic for boxes ? I'm about to start buying boxes for the first time and was wondering that
I know some people leave the wrap on their boxes. The one box I've bought I took the wrapping off because A) I was so excited to see them and B) well, there is no "B".

But I've read other brothers say that they take it off to inspect the cigars for damage. If you take the wrapper off the box five years after you receive it, it will be very hard, if not impossible, to go after a refund or any other kind of compensation.

So, in the future, I'll still take the wrapper off but now I have a better excuse than infantile excitement (although that's what it will still really be)

Cello in cigars - I cut the bottom flap off so the foot can breath easier. Sure cello is permeable to an extent, but it will slow down the acclimation process. So I cut the foot off the cello. It helps shorten a cigar's "sick" period, at least in my experience.

Plastic wrap on boxes - I'm uncomfortable taking the risk that my cigars were damaged in transit, and not finding out until a long time later. So I always remove the plastic, open the box and inspect contents, and then put away in storage.

Is there any technical reason to leave the plastic on or take it off? Will the cigars age better or be different if you leave the box plastic on or off? What about for limited editions or first releases from a collector standpoint? Would a box of say 7 year old Opus or Anejo be worth more $ or less $ if the plastic was on or off the box? Sealed or unsealed? I kinda prefer knowing that they're sealed, but I've gotten them opened as well. What are you guys thoughts?
