So, I have a dead mini fridge which I'm turning into a fridgeador. Got a bunch of empty boxes to break up for lining and to use for storage, and now I need humidification. I'm thinking of going the kitty litter route, as its affordable, but u wanna make sure I get the right thing. Are both of these ok? I believe they're both silica beads.....View attachment 29462View attachment 29463
I'm hoping the first one is ok as it's a 4lb bag for $4 which should be enough for a mini fridge....
The Mimi Litter is what I use. $4, no scent and it works AWESOME. Keeps my cooler and desktops consistantly at 65%

you can see how I have it in the bottom of my cooler in this photo

what's the dimension of that KL holder Rupe?

I'm not at home so I am not able to measure it but I'm guessing it's around 1-7/8 wide by about 3 long by around 2 deep.

What they are is switch boxes for putting light switches and electrical outlets into. I got them from the electrical section at the home improvement store.

Can you really have too much KL?
I actually have a small plastic sandwich container with KL at the top as well to balance things out.

I don't think that more will hurt and having more should actually help with recovery and stability.

it's way more than you need but its not going to hurt.

The only concern that I would have is that the more KL you have, the less room there is for cigars LOL

Ok so my question is then I have lots of litter being seasoned to perfection. Can I use pantyhose to put it inside and then place in humidor?

Also can the KL in the bags touch the sticks??

Usually people will put it in trays, around 2 inches in depth is the active surface area, so if you put say a shoe box in only the top 2 or so inches really helps you out, I have seen pantyhose or you can go to a pet store and get the media bags people use in fish tanks and use those ... they work really well and they are a little more sturdy than pantyhose. (the bags are like .99 cents)

I think it just depends on your set up, if you have it where you can use shallow boxes for your RH media, I've seen people even use cigars boxes wit the lids taken off, but the hose / media bags work well for putting "where ever" you want i have some in the back and some here and some there.

Rupe is alway dead on with his KL advice. I have been running KL for 6 months now and love it. You can really never have too much but like Rupe said it does take space for cigars.

Now that's a nicely stocked cabinet! Again I had the socks and they worked but the dust was too much for me. Maybe I could/should have cleans the KL a bit first?
