That 92+ sampler looks like a nice collection. The JDN Fuertes retail for only $44 a box, so you basically paid retail for that fiver. I've never had one of them, but the Antanos are a solid smoke, and the dark Antanos are one of my go to smokes. That triple A is an AJ blend using a PA Broadleaf wrapper. If you like that one, go for some Diesel UCs. Same wrapper, same blender, but far better flavors.

Word of advice. Stay away from their massive selection of dog rockets, especially the entire La Perla line, Torano Noventa and almost all their Gurkhas. These are not what they claim they are.
The Perla maddies are good with a bit of age, I only sat a fiver for about 4 months and they weren't bad at all.
It may have been "not bad at all", but before CI got ahold of the line, they used to be a premium brand earning many +90 ratings. I still have some of the original Morados left. If you want, I'll send you a couple once I'm back in Jersey (about 2 weeks). PM me your addy if you're interested. These are the ones that won the 93 rating, not the current dog rockets that CI is selling under the same label. Get one of CI's Morados, and smoke it next to one of these originals, and then you'll understand the truth.

Very generous. And also correct, as soon as you ash one of the or black pearls you will know the travesty that ci has made of the line
Ha, ha, dh, I have the noobs addy now. Looks like Sir Spanky is in for a spanking.
Nail his ass. He seems like a very good botl.

Lol remember opinions are just that. They are like the one thing every animal has.... and coincidentally were those so called "rockets" come from. :eyebrow: But yes agreed you have to be careful what you buy, but that is from even the best boutiques. A little education and research goes a long way. Be leary of sponsor driven oppinions especialy. I do disagree however I have not unenjoyed any Ghurka I have yet to buy. That said I buy there more limited or shorter run lines mid to higher priced. And Yes i still enjoy my 1 year soaked Widow Makers!
But as I said those are only my opinions

Doc :cbig:
I really believe that Gurkha's bad reputation comes mainly from the CI licensed ones. For the first 4 years of this hobby, I bought 95% of my cigars from Cbid. Every Gurkha I tried was pure trash. About a year and a half ago, Thompson's Auction had 5 packs of Black Dragons going cheap. They looked good, so I took a chance on 2 fivers at $9 each. The cigars where fantastic. Deep rich chocolate and espresso. The wrappers where so oily that I had a wet oil line behind the burn all the way to the nub. I wanted more, but they where gone from Thompson, so I grabbed a couple fivers from Cbid. Big mistake. They didn't look the same, they didn't smell the same, and they sure didn't taste the same. Blah tasting, bad burn, and no oil line. I can only assume that since Gurkha no longer lists these on their site, and CI has a steady supply, that these are now another one of the dozens of CI owned "Gurkha" labels. The ones I got from Thompson must have been the last of the real ones.

I've only tried one Gurkha and that was the Black Dragon. I bought it from cbid too. I don't know about oils trailing the ash but they were really good IMO. They weren't strong but the flavors were great. I was surprised actually because of all the smack talked about Gurkha and their ridiculous marketing. "Oh msrp on these are 375.00 a box, buy it now for 79.95!"

Lol I love that about gurkha, it makes me chuckle seeing the huge msrp prices then selling for like 90% off. I've only tried an elegance, and have an ancient warrior that I doubt I'll ever get to.

I used to buy a lot on cbid. I stay away religiously now. Too many people are on it so the deals are hard to come by. Last box I bought there I spent several weeks bidding just to save a few bucks (literally a few). Life's too short. Just give me my monster mashup and let me go about my business without wasting my time. There was a time where there were fantastic deals there though.

Nice pickups though.

Gurkha is to cigars what invicta is to watches.

Not a terrible product. But generally hated by hobbyists because of marketing

Sorry for the slight derailment guys, but can you recommend me a decent everyday watch somewhere around the 50 bucks range? You can answer via pm to avoid ruining the thread. Thanks h3

Come on Flame Fusion crystal? LOL

I was watching once and the watch they were displaying was missing 1 of 4 screws on the top side of the case. Close ups and everything, it was pure comedy. Their products are not good, with the exception of 1 or 2 being a good value, not product IMHO.

I love their generous use of the word swiss...

I don't mind invicta. Or most people that own them. What I do mind is when people gush about them. And put down say a orient or something and thrust their "swiss manufactured" piece of garbage in their face
