I'm a huge fan of cigar obsession Bryan Glynn has an outstanding channel. Healthy living obsession is good too if you've never checked it out. Anyways, he recently has cut up a few fake Cubans to show people how poorly made they can be. I guess he decided to cut up a padron 1964 to show a benchmark of what a premium cigar should be on the inside and found something interesting. It makes me want to go cut up a 1964. But I'm not that brave lmao.

If that was me, the end of the video would show me trying to put them back together to smoke them. Wow there was a couple dollars down the drain.

Yeah, I saw that last night. Crazy to think that was in there, in such a premium stick. The other that he opened was what I expected from the Padron.

I don't take that as anything indicative of Padron's quality. ONE sample out of how many produced every year? Thousands? Hundreds of thousands? Something will get through eventually.

I wonder if there are more stems in high end cigars than most people care to believe. If you look at the feet of your whole stash I bet you will be able to spot more than one stem in there.

I don't think the thicker stem of the leaf makes it into the cigar that often. I think this one was missed or the roller that day just didn't feel like removing it... Since I started rerolling, I've pulled apart CCs, Goldies, Opus, Tats, Ligas, Illusiones, etc. (30 or so) and heavy stems just don't make it in there very often from what I saw. There might be some stem but that one in the video was pretty thick.

I'm thinking it may be like he said. Maybe that's normal for them. It obviously doesn't effect the cigars if it is there, so it doesn't really matter that they are there. Just cool to see.

You should pull apart a 1964 and see lol. I'm too scared I can't do it. I feel like if they are there it obviously doesn't matter because those sticks are killer. Alway amazing in my book. But it would be interesting to see if that really does just happen in that line or if it was a one off.

When I hung around Puff-N-Stuff in Atlanta, Al, the owner, who's blended some top-notch stuff with Pepin and Gomez, pulled apart a few sticks to show me how some blenders use the stems, especially in well aged stuff. it gives the cigar a little extra umph and vitamin N. He went so far as to have me smoke one his Pepin blends and then halfway through, he pulled the stem out. Yes, the cigar opened up somewhat, not as much as you'd think, but the flavor was muted and the stick was not as full bodied. This is the only time I've ever heard this from anyone associated with the industry but the guy knows what he's talking about. The stem, not a huge one, about the same as the ones in the video, had a good impact on the cigar and did not deter from the burn, which was excellent. Next time you cut a cigar, look and see if you find a stem, you will more times than you'd expect.
