I think the extra "S" in USPS stands for "sucks". So, their "Two Day Priority Shipping" is just the name of the service and not an actual guaranteed delivery timeframe (which we all know).

Earlier today, I bought the fan for my new coolidor and, with my Prime membership, had the option to pay an extra $5 to receive it tomorrow. I declined since the free shipping would get it to me on Saturday and I won't need it before then. Just got an update from Amazon - UPS is delivering it tomorrow. So, good thing I didn't pay the $5 to get it the same day I am getting it anyway, but UPS can guarantee 2 day delivery AND be profitable. Yet USPS calls "Two Day" a guess-timate and is hemorrhaging money like a fiend.

I just don't get USPS

So much of USPS's money problems stem from retiree benefits, something that UPS doesn't have to deal with. However, the feds won't allow USPS to do anything about that. Another thing, if you want UPS to do Saturday delivery, you have to pay. The government won't allow USPS to in any way change their currently delivery schedule. So basically congress wants them to be magically profitable but won't give them any of the tools they need to do so. Doesn't make a lick of sense to me.

I send everything through UPS. Shipping costs me a couple extra bucks but it always gets there on time. It helps that I work in shipping and I have Worldship software at my desk.

I don't want to get off on a rant so I'll just say if USPS was so bad then why does UPS and FEDEX give so many parcels to the postal service for final delivery.
Because of $$$$$ more land and packages to cover with out fedex still having to cough up money to pay more workers .. Give the packages to the postal service and they get a cut brilliant honestly lol

And that makes sense.

I guess the thing that really chaffs my nutsack is that, after all this time, you'd think they could accurately predict when packages would actually arrive.

I haven't had one prob with USPS. I use them quite often as I sell on eBay and order a lot of stuff online. Everyone's experience is different I guess. Could be that certain facilities suck and my packages never travel through there lol idk. I'm knocking on wood...

Well the reason that USPS cannot guarantee deliver is because the government will not let them purchase more planes. They have to depend on other means of transportation. I would much rather have my packages delivered by USPS as a former employee. I order stuff from the east coast UPS and it takes almost two weeks to get to me. USPS I will have on the third day no problem. The government is hurting USPS as mentioned before with making them fund retirement early where do you think that money went. It probably funded Barry's and Michelle's Hawaii vacations.

Their predictions have been pretty good for me. I think it might have to do with the fact that on any given day, they have no idea how much mail they will be handling?

Fair enough but shouldn't the same apply to Fedex and UPS as well? I dunno... I was just feeling a might unneighborly towards them tonight, I guess.

I think it does but the fact is, UPS/FEDEX both charge more and probably are better staffed and have more money at their disposal. Also, they don't have USPS packages being pushed onto them for extra deliveries (like USPS does with theirs) Just a guess, I don't really know.

I have major issues with USPS, regardless of what congress will or will not let them do, it is a management issue......Regardless how many years in the federal gov. If people can't do there job, kick there ass to the curb ."That is another issue in the Gov. getting rid of people that can't or will not do there job doing. "

So why would a package sit for over 5 days in one location....Here is a post I did on a 2 day priority
USPS and its Priority Mail , give me a break... Last Tue 2/18 I put a lil something for KK33 and this is what I get from USPS this morning on Email tracking
