Found this 12 bottle mini wine cooler off of Craigslist for $10. All the cooling and temp stuff was taken out and the fan was replaced with a big computer fan. Had to pull that out and figure out a way to seal the back end. I decided to cut up a 20 count desktop humidor I had and use that to seal up the hole in the back. Figured it was a good way to seal it and get some cedar in there as well. I already placed another order with Famous Smoke Shop for 2 more boveda 65% packs and found a cedar tray on ebay for$10. Now for the hard part of filling it up, what you guys think?

Thanks guys, I still have some work to do on it and make sure it holds a good seal but not bad for being into it for just over$20.

I kinda dig that panel in the back. I have a 12ct as well I just just for box storage. Great little unit. Nice grab!

Did you get yours new? They cut all the wiring on this, I want to figure out a way to get the light to work when I open the door. Also trying to figure out how to get a small fan in their for circulation.

Well you can use the wiring they had for the PC fan for power for light and whatever fan you want to put in. A simple switch in line with the light could take care of the door light idea. And I bought (not yet installed) some PC fans that are made for putting in the back of PC. They are pretty cheap on amazon. Let me know if you need anything. And good luck

The main thing I'm worried about was voltage for the fan. Can you wire those straight to 120v? Wasn't sure if I need some kind of transformer or regulator to power it. The fan that was in it was way too big and only had one speed which was too high.

They cut all the wires so I just have to track down the wires for the light now.

Yes, you are correct, there must have been something wired in to bring down the voltage (transformer) and convert from AC to DC (rectifier) for that PC fan that you removed. Does the cord that you plug into the wall feed directly into the fan? Or was there a small device or circuitry that you removed with the fan? If you are able, you can get a pic or two of the back of fridge and I can get a better look. And just post or PM me.

Here's a few more pics for you. They gutted everything in the back, I cut part of the back cover to seal the back end of it. The fan plugs straight into the wall and has an in line switch but it only has one speed. I want to change the fan just because it's too big and blows to hard for this small cooler.

Looks great! I've been looking for something for my single sticks, and I may have to go this route!!! Thanks for the idea!!!
Cool project; I see those small 8 & 12 counts around and always think about making a desktop humidor out of one.
Thanks guys, someone posted on here a while ago that Lowe's had these brand new for about $50.

Looks like a fun project, good luck
Thanks.

Very nice build so far, best of luck. Starting my second wineador build myself, just to lazy to get started.
Haha, yeah I had to get a move on with this one. Wife doesn't know it's here and I have to make it look like I've had it all this time. haha

For a box that small a fan isn't really needed, so if you wanted to just do away with it you'd be fine.
That's what I was thinking but I know I won't open this one that often cause I still have my tuperdor for my go to smokes. I was looking at some grow forums and read that I could probably use a small fan and wire it to a 9v battery. I'm looking at that idea as well.

Good point, you may not even need a fan. Easiest way to check is to put a couple hydrometers in different spots and see if you have consistent RH.
If you do go with one though, you could easily find and old AC/DC plug and get the proper voltage for a fan if you wanted.
