Hello fellas,

I want to ship out a bottle today for a debt that I owe but I'm a bit nervous. I have the bottle wrapped in foam, bubble wrap, paper towels, in a zip loc bag, and surrounded by packing peanuts in the box, but it is still possible to hear the liquid slosh around in the bottle inside of the box. Is this going to be a problem with USPS? Is there something I can tell them it is that is ok to ship? Should I just hand it to them carefully so they can't hear it, and put the desired address as the sender and the destination so if it's returned it ends up there anyway? I'd love to get this out today so any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks Brothers.

Best Regards,
Robert Sander

My post office has never asked questions before. I think you'll be fine. And last I checked liquids weren't illegal. Just tell em it's fucking water if they ask. Not like they can open up to inspect

they'll sometimes ask if its perfume or anything corrosive or flammable. A fast and tested reply is its gourmet/craft root beer.

Thanks !

My goto answer is usually BBQ sauce because I have tossed in seasonings and, initially, the employee usually detects the aroma before hearing the gurgling.

What I did was ask them if they thought shipping a ship in a bottle would be safe through USPS. They said yes. I never said that's what I was shipping, so I didn't lie to a federal agency.

I understand your apprehension on this.

The last few times I went to ship some liquor I was concerned that I was "being naughty" and that the people at the post office would bust me on it. If anyone questioned me on it my plan was to say that I was shipping "olive oil" but no one ever has. Since I have to stand in line for 5+ minutes pretty much every time I go there, my impression is that the people at the post office are generally overworked and too busy to worry about busting you for shipping "illegal" substances.

lies by omission.. lies by commission... really the same thing...

you know the rules/laws.. and chose to "lie" to USPS by agreeing to follow those laws... with no real intention of doing so....

not a big deal... probably 90% of the people on this board have done or will do the same thing..

but.. dishonestly is dishonesty.. whether the words are spoken or not..

If it makes you feel any better, according to the USPS website the prohibition of sending liquor through the mail is "based on the intent of the law to prevent liquor from being transported to prohibited jurisdictions for consumption and to ensure that all proper tax revenues are paid."

Assuming that you paid tax on the liquor you bought and are sending it to a person of legal age in a state that allows alcohol you would still be breaking the law but at least you would not be violating the "intent" of the law.

When you say liquid they usually say what kind. I just say olive oil every time.

I am very familiar with your line of reasoning on numerous threads.

Can I ask what your occupation is? I feel like I have a good idea.

I work in politics and sense that you may a be a paralegal, work in the courts or for the state/city, etc....am I close or do you just watch a lot of Law and Order, lol.
