Spent the last few days in NYC sampling what the city has for a cigar lover. This was also a family trip so couldn't spend all day sitting at lounges but I did spend a few hours at many. My first stop was Nat Sherman's off 5th av. What a nice shop they have going. High ceilings classy feel and a friendly staff. The man in the humidor even gave me some other locations to check out. I've been looking for a KFC and they had them so I sat back and enjoyed. The two people who sat down with me engaged in a nice conversation and made feel welcome. Very nice overstuffed leather chairs not cratered in like most other lounges I've visited. Air circulation was great and I'm sure the high ceilings had something to do with that.

Next up was the Davidoff store on Madison Ave. Very NYC looking shop with bright lights and white walls. They do have a nice humidor with lots of different brands. Staff was a bit pretentious for me and the wife. The guy who followed us into the humidor was stuck on us like glue and not friendly. Lounge is small and enclosed in glass. The place was packed with women outnumbering men big time. My neighbor is a Hendrik Kelners aunt so we went more for her than us. She has never been and wanted to know what it was like.

Day three I made my way by train to JR in Whippany NJ. For dinner with a friend and to checkout the crazy big humidor/store. Tried to get a photo but the guys behind the counter didn't like that lol. Humidor looks more like a bakery than cigar shop with glass cased single sticks and boxes packed floor to ceiling. Staff warmed up after the photo lashing and we talked with one of the managers for a long time. The employes behind the counter seemed knowledgable about the stock on hand but not much else. After about an hour in the shop we had dinner in the restaurant. Good prices for bar food and a free cigar made for a nice time out of the city.

More to come later

Last few days
I was sitting at The SoHo house club having a drink and started Jonesing for a smoke. A quick search showed Hudson Bar and Books just around the corner. Great place with a very small cigar selection(2 100 count). I had a few espressos and smoked my own sticks. Not sure if they have a cut fee but they didn't charge. Great setting think old speakeasy with a huge scotch and whiskey selection if that's your thing. The patrons are on the older business side but friendly and make for nice conversation. I was told the Hudson location is the smallest of three in the city.

Cigar Inn Second Avenue. Place was packed but ventilation was working good. Guy at the counter was nice but didn't know his stock well. I was looking for a Room 101 stick and he started telling me how they went out of business and they didn't have anything left. A quick look in the humidor I found a bunch in stock. He did go out of his way to get us coffee From next door. He also found us two seats in a packed room. The people who left before us spilled drinks and made a mess it was cleaned by a nice girl that just started her shift. It's BYO by the way. They had barber chairs and shoeshine but it wasn't open and not sure it ever is? All in all good place to visit.
Club Macanudo on 63rd. Just around the block from our apt on 5th. Make sure your dressed for this one. I had a nice cashmere sweater, dress pants and shoes still had a hard time getting in. The doorman was great and pushed the manager to allow access. Place again was packed and this was at 11:30pm. Once in many of the people didn't fit the dress code. Guess members didn't need to stick to code. From reviews they seemed to have a great ventilation system but it was the smokiest place of all. Prices high for sure but I expected that. padron 1964 $40.00 and 1926 $50.00 just for an idea. Cut fee was $15.00 and a beer was $9.00 Didn't talk to any other people most talking business with others their table.

Paley Park 53rd. Found this from the man at Nat Sherman's. One of the only parks in NYC to enjoy a cigar. It's privately owned so they can do what they want. I visited on a cold day but will definitely use it again. Trees, ivy and a big waterfall make for a relaxing place in the heart of the city.
Last was The Grand Havana Club. Not going to say much but if you ever get a chance it's a must visit. Some of the best views around and as expected great service. Cedar with candles to start your stick. It was amazing to see what others smoked. Most of the main players you hear about made an appearance at one point. The humidor reads like a walk of fame and is amazingly beautiful.

I love these travelogue threads!

We should have a section, with one for each city so that Brothers visiting know just where to go (and not go)?
Agreed I'm not great at reviews.
I'd love seeing others views on places I'm traveling to. I know we have the B&M finder but I like reading trip reports and seeing photos.
