Happy St Paddy's Day BOTL! What are your plans tonight? I've skipped the traditional corn beef and cabbage. I went straight for the Irish Bangers and Mash with the Coleman's mustard of course...Delish! 5 Guinness in already, two Jameson's in and it is only 5 PM. Good thing I took tomorrow off.

I am listening to a great St Paddy's Day mix that includes: 1st and foremost the greatest Irish band ever: The Pogues, also Flogging Molly, The Tossers, Waterboys, Dropkick Murphy's, Flatfoot 56, Blood or Whiskey, Young Dubliners, etc Oh and of course that great Irish classic....Metallica - Whiskey in the Jar. Did you know that is a traditional Irish song?

Here is some Irish Wisdom for you: "I went on a diet, I swore off drinking and heavy eating. In 14 days I lost 2 weeks."

How is it that Dropkick Murphys didn't make that list?

Wow I found a gem.

My three favorite rock icons are Johnny Cash, Keith Richards and Joe Strummer.

When the Clash split up Joe Strummer played with the Pogues for a while. Thanks to YouTube I just found some concerts with Joe playing with the Pogues. I will post a link below.

I have a memory of Joe Strummer. I was at a Ronnie Wood show at a small club in Hollywood in the early 90s and I was taking a piss in a line of 5 urinals and Joe Strummer walked in and pissed at the urinal next to me. I looked over and said "Hey man, you're Joe Strummer" Joe said "I know that you cunt" I said "Can I buy you a beer" Joe said "Fuck off". I walked away a little dishearted thinking one of my heroes just told me to "fuck off". So a few few minutes later I walked over to the bar to order a beer and leaned against the bar to order a beer. I was waiting for service when Joe Strummer squeezed through the crowd, ordered a drink, saw me and said "I will get this bloke and drink as well". we got our drinks. He raised his glass, said "Cheers mate" and squeezed back through the crowd.

I have to finish getting as drunk as Shane MacGowan from the Pogues. Officially the drunkest man that is still alive. (And the ugliest) (and one of the most talented) can you imagine what Shane could do if he was ever sobered up one day in his life? He might of even have been sober enough to get his teeth fixed.

Gob bless him.

Have you ever heard Shane MacGowen laugh? Matt Dillon explains it best "There was a lot of drinking going on"
