A buddy of mine has these cigars, which he was given by his boss, who owns a company in Miami and has the right connections, supposedly. I have my own opinion about these, but I'd like to hear yours. Thanks in advance.

As a cigar n00b, I am sure there are details in the wrapper and color that I have no clue about so I usually "play detective" on the wrapper. The bottom of the middle (third) row of dots is cut off by the brand name and most of the Cohiba labels I've seen do NOT do that.

I'd call "fake" based on the label

The C in Cuba shouldnt have the line going through the bottom, someone will correct me if im wrong
Yeah, that's the detail I was looking at. The embossing seems quite nice, though. And the triple cap looks good, too (at least in the photo...these are 3,000 miles away from me).

The white squares in the bottom row shouldn't be cut off, nor should the C cross itself on the bottom on the word Cuba.

Well, that's an interesting question, but we were actually in the process of working out a trade, so it's relevant to me, too. I'll steer him in a more reputable direction. He's not on vacation, and he buys these by the box.

They may be decent cigars. They're just no Cohibas (and almost certainly not Havanas).

Even if someone's enjoying them, you gotta tell em. No sense in them or anyone else getting duped.

My question is, if you have the equipment to be able to make a decent looking fake band, HOW do you get tripped up by the DESIGN itself, when all you're doing is COPYING it??

LOL dumb counterfeiters.

ps Tell your buddy to give you one, and do a dissection video and post it here!

I have this same exact question. If you can do fancy things like emboss and gold foil and whatnot, why the crazy little obvious differences? It almost has to be intentional, doesn't it?

this fake band has been around for many years, keeps turning up over and over.

Whoever makes them either does not know or cannot get a better fake band.

I feel sure they would use a better band if available.

On the other hand, there seems to be enough people buying cigars with those bands that there is probably very little incentive for the band maker to improve the band
