This may have been asked already (I'd guess that it has been but I didn't see it anywhere) but when you get CCs shipped do you request that they be inspected first or would you prefer that your boxes remain sealed? I'm interested to see some preferences on this. Thanks.

I think a lot of vendors open and inspect before shipping, at least all of mine have been. And some even put a little bubble wrap in the box to keep the cigars from getting damaged. Don't know about all vendors, but mine have never been sealed boxes. (I mean my friends boxes because I would never buy something illegal)

Well of course you wouldn't and neither would I. I ask because its an option on a site that I'm looking at. I'm not going to participate in illegal activities I was just wondering. You know, hypothetically and what not.

I would be ok with them opening and inspecting, you know, if I were gonna do something like that.

I think it's best practice to have a trusted vendor inspect them prior to shipment. It generally means your box is not mold ridden, and depending on what kind of coin you are spending that's a kind of piece of mind I would like before they are in transit to my house...

If it's not a trusted vendor, then I don't think it matters one way or the other.

One would be better off having the discount vendor who didn't expect before but does now. Inspect all there boxes now. Cause if they still send you moldy cigars after they open your sealed box..... They're a certified douche retailer.

Having a purveyor inspect the stock is key- for me. My main guys inspect everything and reject the crap. I wouldn't want a box that wasn't checked out first. Not with the quality being so hit and miss. IMHO of course

Even at times with vendors they might have an order for different 3 boxes, they will inspect one but not the other two, if you ever wonder this is because they might have had an issue with other boxes of that one type so they will automatically inspect them all before shipping to stave off any problems.

I would prefer to have someone knowledgeable and trusted to examine what I would buy in most cases.

Would save a ton of hassle of the cigars are damaged.

Trust is the key factor in it all. I don't know that I trust habanos to be uniform in production. I would trust a guy with years of experience to look at a box though.

Perfect answer... it all comes down to trusting your vendor. If you are buying cigars to smoke, then use a trusted vendor and have them inspect. Do you want to hassle with returning moldy/bad cigars? If you are buying to invest and want sealed boxes, you still need to trust your vendor.

This for me exactly, if I were going to participate in something so heinous as to break the embargo, that is.

Thanks for the help everybody, I will request that the boxes are inspected first. From what I can tell, the vendor is legit as I have read many good reviews about them. Wish me luck!
