Woke up this morning to a broken thermostat and freezing house. I decided if I had to replace it why not do it with a bitchin piece of technology

So the man cave fund may be a little lighter than it was before, but it sure does look good on the wall!

Totally was drooling on this thing at Sams Club, lucky bastage!
LOL - You can come over and spin the dial anytime Rob

Awesome!

I've been looking at those- let me know how you like it.
So far it's pretty damn neat. I will report back further down the 90-day timeline it takes to learn all of our habits.

I was thinking of getting one, but it doesn't work with my system (heat pump). Let us know how you like it! Did you install it yourself?
That sucks! Honeywell makes a similar intelligent model. Maybe that would work? I did install it myself and was super simple to do.

Are you sure it doesn't work with your system? The new 2.0 version may work as they have an article about heat pumps on their website

http://support.nest.com/article/What-is-Heat-Pump-Balance

And I found this quote on there as well

The Nest Learning Thermostat works with over 95% of 24V heating and cooling systems, including gas, electric, oil, solar, hot water, geothermal, forced air, heat pump and radiant. (Based on data collected through Nest’s online Compatibility Checker.)

I had the first nest and really liked it, but it could not do two stage heating so I had to return it.

Second generation appears to have solved that problem!

They are regularly 129.99 each for the nest protector but this week they are 2 for 199 and if your order on the phone you can ask for another 10-15% OFF to match lowes same goes for in store they will give you 10% if you mention lowes
