I am just curious as to knowing if this is the best place to get drawers and shelves for it.

Not sure if this is the same person most of you guys use. I dont think I can go crazy spending hundreds of dollars but if this is the same guy you use I wonder if it is worth the money and the wait?
Eddie
This is what I did to get mine up and running. The shelves are from Walmart. I cut them down to the 14 and a half inch width. They are 10 inches deep.

I'll save up for some nice drawers later, but this gets me ready for a hot muggy summer.

That is a great idea, so many people doing this in their coolers, somehow never occured to me to do the same for wineador.

My wine cooler came with wooden shelves and not the metal ones, some cheap/lacquered wood that I can't use in there, so I am stealing this idea!!

This was not long after Christmas and he told me in email it was back up big time. Not sure what he's at know but most seem like 3-4weeks is the norm.
Okay 3-4 weeks is no problem whatsoever, you originally said 3-4 months.

Which one did you mean? (please say weeks, lol)
I'm going on 8 weeks of no responses to emails since payment sent. Expect at the very minimum 3 months... if you can get him to respond after you send money. I have been talking with another member who sent money in December for cooler shelves and has not received his yet.
Sorry to hear this. Just another reason to build your own.[/QUOTE]

JUST got email confirmation that they are shipping Tuesday. Cant wait!!!

Alright looks like my local B&M hooked me up. He gave me 8 Opus X empty boxes and I have the trays from my gf Christmas present to me. Looks like we are in action. Couple of wipedowns of vinegar and distilled water today and then putting a couple of the emplty Opus boxes open in there for about a week. Then I hope to be up and running in a week or so. Im thinking maybe store the sticks I really want to age inside an Opus box with a Boveda and just leave it shut. Opening it every couple of weeks to air out. All the boxes seal very well.

So after a coulpe of vinegar wipedowns and leaving 6 empty Opus X boxes (open) in the wineador the plastic smell is much much reduced but not fully away. Im guessing that is the best it will get until the fridge has a nice amount of sticks in it circulating tobacco smell for a while.

Do you guys line the walls with spanish cedar? DO you put sticks in empty boxes with a boveda in it and leave closed or take the lids off empty boxes to use them like a shelf?

Lids closed and no no cedar on the wall for me. I do have three cedar drawers and some empty boxes with KL in them.

If you put a couple dishes of the activated charcoal in there with it running for a couple days it should pull out the remaining smell (good to let it run a few days though to get any smell out of the new fan/electronics breaking in)
Can also use newspaper if you can't find the carbon/charcoal at the pet store.

Activated charcoal for a few days, wiped down with vinegar couple times and then soapy water after. Then I shut the door with newspaper in it for about 3-4 days, after all that the smell was finally gone. That's when I threw some boxes in and my kl to try and get it stabilized. Good luck dude.

Yeah, the carbon/charcoal is better, but the newspaper should get the job done (carbon in the newsprint is an absorbant) and let it run, closed up, for a couple days. If you plan to use the same boxes you tried to use for scent as your final storage you might want to let them set out for a while as well, otherwise you're just putting all that plastic chemical fumes right back in with your cigars. (Or just use different boxes)

The boxes dont have the plasticy smell thank goodness. I will wipe down with vinegar again and load up a lot of newspaper.

Do you bunch it up in balls til its full or leave it all folded?

I don't remember having any plastic smell in mine, I just wiped mine down and loaded it full of empty boxes for several days, then loaded in my beads and boxes. The cedar from the boxes and the humidity beads smelled amazing. Then I put in all my boxes and away I went.

With the shelves, I just stuck with the wire racks that came with the wine cooler. I figure It's just box storage.
