So, i'm looking to buy a larger capacity humidor to store boxes (at least 15-20 boxes). I am curious what you guys think is the best humidor for the price. I don't want to build anything myself so I would rather buy a unit all ready to go.

Thanks!

These guys speak truth. A nice, large cooler is about the most reliable, inexpensive method for storing cigars there is. A good one will seal well, insulate your cigars from rapid exterior changes, and has lots of capacity for relatively little money.

It's not just a hack idea either, there are guys with tons of money invested into their cigars that swear by coolers. I have a small one I use and it's one of the more reliable methods, possibly even more so than my wineador, since it's better insulated.

Get a cooler such as this one : http://www.walmart.com/ip/Coleman-Xtreme-120-Quart-Cooler/14574678?action=product_interest&action_type=title&placement_id=WM_Home_IRS_Spot_1&strategy=PWVAV&visitor_id=68598091654&client_guid=68a9b48a-aefc-4d75-91fa-6d4cacd0e4e0&config_id=6&parent_item_id=21270184,16437963,20613569,21947771,4994241&guid=a879b820-0702-4834-8ef0-54b3ab68db82&bucket_id=irsbucketdefault&findingMethod=p13n

and use Heartfelt beads or Kitty litter as your humidification method (RH Media).

If you do a search you should find several threads that explain how to set a cooleridor up. There are also several on Kitty Litter and beads. If you need help with kitty litter (cheapest option) I would be happy to send you a PM with step by step instructions.

He is saying to buy a large cooler and some RH media for it (beads, or KL, etc..).. and then just throw in the boxes.. and you are done..

do a search in this room for cooleridor... several threads that will provide pics, etc.. of what different guys have done... you can build them as fancy or as plain as you like..

If you want an actual cabinet style humidor... you could probably fit 15-20 boxes inside an end table sized cabinet depending on what size sticks youre talking about and how good you are at playing cigar tetris.. but.. be advised.. like most things in life.. with humidors, you get what you pay for... if you have the budget there are all sorts of higher end options from companies like aristocrat, avallo, etc.. that seal well, come with active RH systems and temp control etc...

or you can go as low as $300-$500 for a nice looking unit from cheaphumidors.com or somewhere similar.. that will get the job done.. but wont have all the bells and whistles.. and likely wont seal quite as well...

same thing for larger sizes... you can pay as little as $700 for a tall cabinet.. or as much as $10K.. really just depends on what you are looking for.. and what your budget is...

there is always the DIY option as well.. several of us (myself included) have converted other types of cabinets and boxes.. and made humidors out of them... my cabinet started out life as a gun cabinet.. It can fit roughly 1,000 sticks... all in I think Ive got about $250 invested in it, including the cost of some custom trays I had built by forest..... and.. while it isnt the prettiest thing on the planet.. and leaks about as much as the "tower of power" (pretty common tower humidor sold at a number of different places)... it was a fun project, saved me a ton of money over buying one from someone else.. and seals well enough for me to keep it a steady 65 RH with the active humidifiers I have in there.. with very little maintenance or concern...

In post #, Wicket attached a link specifically for coolidors. It is a great thread which will help you on your way, go bigger, you will fill it up, lol. 100qt would be a perfect size.

Definitely cant argue with the coolidor route, as I have one thats been up and running for about 3 months now. Rock solid temp & Rh control. However, I wanted something that looks nice to display. Im anal like that. I have an Avallo 1200 being delivered tomorrow, 30-40 boxes, 150-200 singles. I will let you know when its up and running if you'd like. Little pricey, but not outrageous.

Vigilant Humidors. Check them out. Pricey but will last forever... temperature and humidity control. Handbuilt piece of furniture that you can pass down to your kids. I've had one of mine for 18 years... still going strong.

Quick question for anyone who has a coolidor already.

How many boxes, in your experience, does the Coleman Xtreme (or equivalent) 120 quart and 150 quart coolers hold, respectfully?

Thanks!
