I'm looking for some recommendations for any PC that smokes great outta' the box.

I don't have much experience w/ PC's, a few Party Shorts(maybe not a PC) and some Siglo II's. I have a lot of BBF's and would like to try and stay away from that brand to try something else. I know a BBF vs. a Boli PC are apples and oranges but I'd like to try some other brands.

The ERdM and the SLR's interest me are they good smokes "fresh"?

I've used this site before: http://www.cigars-review.org/Mareva-Size.htm but I'd rather see what you guys have to say.

I can tell you that fresh Party's will be in your face and possibly a little harsh...but I love em. My favorite out of the group are a toss up between the Boli PC & the Party short, it which ever I'm smoking at the time.

I just got a cab of PLPC's from 05 and sparked one up one day off the truck and was amazed. Totally blew away the 01 cab of these I have in terms of flavor, draw, and construction. Wonder how 02-04 are smoking/?

Sorry but what is PLPC? My bad for using the abbreviations I am by no way an expert, very green. Most of the boxes I am getting now are 06's not 05's or 04's

I have a good selction of Monte #2 and Edmundos so I'd kinda also like to stay away from the brand too.

I did a PC thread a little while back but do not have the technical know how to bring it up here. HB probably can. Even rated based on feedback. Even though you don't want to stay with Boli, the Boli PC's are absolutely incredible young. Monte #4's I found good but much better with age. The 06 Diplomaticos are coming out very, very good young. Ihave a 06 box of Dip 4's and Dip 5's. The 5's took a month to open up at 63% but the 4's have been great out of the box.

Heck, if you are really wanting to stay away from certain brands because you have or will have some of that same brand, go with the PLPCs.

BTW my lists change constantly as my pallet changes as I try better smokes and some smokes change as they age/develop. Right now been smoking some great 03 Boli PC would be moved up. Some late 05/early 06 PL PC are in between smoking times right now. They will need to nap for a while before I even try another one.

Por Larranga PCs are good out of the box.

But better with at least a year on them.

Also the Por Larranga Panatela is great out of the box.

Monte 4 IMHO. The fresh 2004's I had were wonderful. Keep meaning to stock up on those...
You must have been luckier than me with them, I agree that monte 4's are SPECTACULAR at their best, but I have found that this is only 1 out of ever 4 '04 monte 4's that I smoke.

I got a box of Monte 4's early in the summer from ENE 06 and they were pretty darn good right out of the box. Hard to stay out of them.

My concern is that if they were made with the new 3 year aged tobacco, how much will they improve? I'm sure they will improve, but how much? It's an undiscovered country and only time will tell.

Second (third, whatever I'm not sure) the PLPCs. Come to think of it, nearly every PC I've smoked fresh has been ok in the last 2 years. I know that some PCs need much longer i.e. the Upmann PCs.
