seems to me, that he was just using his first amendment rights.......

dont we all as human beings have the right of free speech???????

And I really dont think he is of a major concern to us, try reading the latest issue of TIME magazine regarding the IRAN situation and the possibility of a first strike against them and the results.......it will scare the shit out of you!!!!!!!

We do have the right. In this country. Not so in others.

Chavez has lots of oil and lots of money. That is a lot of power. By that definition he should be a major conern of ours... just like Iran.

Excatly. Chavez has no "1rst Amendment rights" as he is not a US citizen. You can argue it's a inalienable right, but to say "his 1rst Amendment rights" is incorrect. Now, as he is in our country, we will sure extend him the courtesy to say what he wishes, but he should have the courtesy to watch his mouth.

Just because we as a people (nor our government) stone people to death for speaking out against our leadership, doesn't mean we want a foreign leader standing on our soil insulting our leadership. We can do that just fine oureselves.

Just a point of order, the UN building in NYC (any UN buildings I believe) is not part of the US, but rather under UN laws as a neutral site and neutral soil. The building is just surrounded by the USA.

Excuse me, but fuck any other country or foreign leader that doesn't like the policies of the US and an even bigger apology, but fuck anyone in this country that listens too and sympathizes with that shit!

And to think that some people in this country can't figure out why there are terrorists out there who want to kill us. :scratchhe

I was waiting for someone to mention that these comments were made at the UN, and just because it is located within NYC doesnt mean that its part of the US. Good job headbanger

Acutally some of his most incindiery remarks were at a church in Harlem.

He's got them.
On US soil, you observe US laws and are granted US rights.

In general, I think he should say whatever he wants. So should the Nazis and any one else. Once you start suppressing speach you slide down a slippery slope.

Specifically, I think he should say whatever he wants. Galvanizes the people around the presidency. Much like your reaction (which is more than justified) others feel the same way.

Even Charles Rangle, who was at the speech, came to the defense of Bush and the presidency.

I was just about to make that same note, good job Geoffrie and CWS.

And as far as I'm concerned the UN can pack it's bags and move anytime it wants to.

Chavez is a sick, manipulating bastard who is in office because people in Venezuela are too scared to vote for anyone else. They don't have a democracy/republic, they have a typical "you can vote for anyone you want as long as you vote for X" type of government. And since the Citgo company is state-owned and this joker is pulling crap like this I will not buy a drop of Citgo gas until he changes his tactics.

Say what you like about Chavez, the guy has a pair of cojones.

Helicopters have "disappeared" in the Andes for much less provocation than this.

What he's trying to do, in case anyone missed this, is unite the sizeable proportion of the third world which looks askance at the current administration’s foreign policy behind Venezuela’s bid for the vacant seat on the UN Security Council. The US is backing that bastion of liberal democracy, Guatemala.

I dont care what he is trying to do.. There is a way to get that done another way, than to come into our country and talk shit...

If you dont like Bush, great whatever, it doesnt bother me...
But if you did not vote in the election then shut the hell up....
I voted for hime, I support Him, but no matter who the president is I will support Him because He is OUR PRESIDENT...

To Do List

  • [-]AFGHANISTAN[/-]
  • [-]IRAQ[/-]
  • IRAN
  • SYRIA
  • Venezuela

the order may be a little off, and syria and afghanistan probably werent on the original list back in 1999-2000'ish, but that is the sad truth.

who do you think was behind the failed coup in venezuela back in early '03? :thinkidea
