The silverflake has a peppery spice you say? Are there many backy's that are peppery?
THAT is what makes perique sexy. o)

IIRC solani silver has fire-cured (or flue cured) burley, which can give some pepper. and some VAs have a light pepperiness as well. but perique is where it's at if you want pepper. and some raisin-y sweetness. and pop!

EDIT: ninjas! ninjas everywhere! o)

Must try some... That is what I like most about cigars is the pepper.

Any recommendations on a particular brand that would be flavorful little pepper bombs? Unless I am misreading (which is a distinct possibility) and perique is actually a brand that ya'll are recommending.

I just had a bowl of Mississippi River in my cob at lunch. My God. This is what I have been waiting for in pipe smoking. Stayed cool, only lit it once, and took. my. time. Thank you so much Dave, that was the best smoke thus far. And I don't expect anything to come close to that any time soon. Gunna buy a couple 8oz. tins next payday. So impressed. Thanks again.

Lol it's good stuff in my book, I think it's definitely better now as I think what I sent was almost a year old, I bought nearly 24 ounces bulk from smoking pipes

Okay, last question, I swear... Okay, I at least hope it will be...

Would these type of tobacco age well, as in, if I get a small sample, like it, would it be wise to then purchase a large amount (1 or 2 lbs) to age or is will it mellow with age?

Edit: I probably shouldn't admit... This conversation made it move a little...

If that's the case I need to buy a bunch more to hide away from myself... I bout 8oz a few months back and it's almost half gone already and I have loved it from the first bowl. I try to let it dry a bit before packing the bowl as it smokes a bit wet for me if I don't, but it is my go-to at the moment. Althought the Stokkebye Luxury Twist flake has really been doing it for me too.

@ duct tape

If u like it I would just get a few ounces and see how you feel about it after that, some age better than other, well that's what I read vas in particular, but I think it's honestly a science experiment you taste it along the way and see how you feel about it, I think that like cigars there comes a point at which they decline but again this is mostly anecdotal evidence for me because I've never smoked anything older than 5-6 years

There will always be more available, well unless it's penzance ... Lol

KILLER stuff for the price!
I couldn't agree more! My only complaint is that I have to have the foresight to pull it out a few hours before smoking to dry or else it won't give me a proper burn and most of the time I don't plan that far ahead.

clint, how do you like the ranger? i kept looking at those, there is something that both draws me in, and pushes me away.. actually kinda felt that i should be able to pick one up at ikea, if that makes sense? like a "yup, this is modern design, deal!" sort of aestetic.

I do like it. I originally ordered the Pipo, but that was just too small, and it went back. This could be just a tad bigger yet and I'd be even happier, but for what it is and the low cbid price, I'll take it and enjoy it!
Nice cool smoke.
Super light weight while clenching.
It definitely fills a hole in the stable...
