Hello!

I did not post in the introduction thread, as I figured going with substance and introduction at the same time would suffice. I am newer to the cigar culture, 29 years old, a litigation attorney and former college wrestler. I have come to greatly enjoy a cigar at the end of the week (or day depending), and found this blog through social media, and doing some searching. Thank you for having me.

I very much enjoy Acid Cigars, specifically the 14cc. In my travels I have asked at many brick and morter shops for similar brands to expand my palate. Many times I am met with laughs because of my size (I am easily 6'2" 250 lbs) and the sentiment that Acid's are "girly" cigars. I also enjoy fruity beers, so I dont much care that they are "girly." My question is this - is anyone aware of other brands that have similar taste as Acid brand? Any similar to the 14cc?

I much appreciate any help you may have. I look forward to the responses

Mike

Welcome to the forum! Similar as in infused? Have you tried the other drew estate infused lines like the Naturals, or Tabak especial?

Drew estate makes a blend for cigars international called the legends copper label. Infused, but to the extent that an acid is. Good way to break into regular smokes.
CAO makes some infused stuff, i haven't tried any, so i can't speak on it. CAO flavors is what the line is called.

Perdomo champagne isn't infused, but it's a very mild smoke I think you'd enjoy.

i have had nothing that really nails it like an acid. while i really don't smoke them often, i am familiar with them. JD et al. at drew estate JEALOUSLY guard their trade secrets, and no one really has done a solid knock off as of yet. that i have seen or tried.

oh, and welcome! and, while it may not be my choice, smoke it if you enjoy it, sir! o)

6'2" 250 lbs? I've got a 7' tall 300 lbs buddy of mine who enjoys Acids... I'll let you tell him they're girly.

Smoke what you like brother!

As for others, I agree with both Spanky and Java, drew estates... Nuff said...

I came to BOTL last summer with the same agenda, looking to find information on cigars similar to the ACIDs I liked. Here I am now, and I rarely even open my "infused" humidor. So, don't discount the forum for a lack of discussion on infused, you never know where this place will bring you!
All that being said, DO NOT buy the infused grab bag samplers. I tried that, tried 4 or 5 different brands, and threw out a lot of cigars shortly after lighting them. Drew Estates does the ACID infused cigars like no other brand seems to be able to. If you want infused, stick with DE.

Fuente Anejos may offer the similar infusion type bang that your liking.
Their maduro wrappers are aged in cognac barrels + are generally plentiful right about this time of year.
Super great aging potential on these too.

Welcome !

This, Tabak Especial are one of my favorite's along with the Perdomo. Anything from both those lines I try and grab up every time I see them on sale.

Oh and welcome to the site.

My favorite in the Acid line is Toast. You should try the Natural line too--I like the NDB. The Tabak's and Java are great too. Then you can branch out to the Uzi, Undercrown and Liga's as you progress. Agree with others on the Perdomo cigars--especially the Champagne(I prefer the Champage Noir Maduro.)

Thanks for the response. I honestly thought I would be getting laughed at for discussing Acid cigars on here - now after reasearching into Drew Estates, they really seem to be popular and a larger brand.

I stopped by the local Tobacco Leaf in Princeton NJ and picked up three: A Tabak mild (coffee), a Drew Estate Natural - NDB, and a Ligua Privada No 9. I am excited to try them all and will report back! thanks for all the advice

A little advice… DO NOT TRY THE LP No.9!!!!
Those things are amazing and they will lead you down a slope the size of Everest hahaha

In all seriousness, smoke what you enjoy dude. I've never judged anybody when they pulled out a cigar.

Also, get the Drew Estates app for your phone. It gives a summary of their different brands, and just reading through the ACID section will give you a breakdown of each blend. Might help you find others you like based on current experience.
One thing to note in the app; there's a section for each brand, except the one called "Subculture Studios". That group is all of the site/store exclusives and actually consists of many of the other brands that can only be found at the location they were blended for.

Agreed! Do not try the LP9.

As for getting laughed at, stay here long enough and it will happen, not in a malicious way, and definitely not for the cigars you smoke. But it will happen.

You should get some good use out of it.
It seems to be laid out very well, and there's all kinds of other info there too, regarding things like local DE events and the Cigar Safari.

Stupid smart phone doesn't have it, I did find a cigar shop locator app though. That's going to get me in trouble, found 19 shops in my area. Thanks
