Well, I know it's not a good time to sell a house but ours is up for sale as you have seen in my tag. We're going to start moving (a whole four blocks away) possibly tomorrow night, maybe Saturday and hope to have everything out of here except the shed by Monday. Here's what will be our new digs once the current house sells:

Thanks guys. Yeah, it's a definite move up. The new house is around 100 years old, maybe more. It's been in the family since 1954 with my grandparents and two different aunt&uncles. I'm just scared to death that this house won't sell quickly but we're praying big-time that it will. We're renting the new one until this sells so we won't have two sets of payments. It was kind of unexpected and I really wasn't looking at a house in town but my uncle got transferred to Tennessee and we were able to work out the details.

The pluses are the number of good sized rooms and I'll have a "study/den", a garage and basement all at the same time! lol! My wife gets her porch, the kids get nice bedrooms, huge living room with a fireplace, etc. so it'll be quite different from what we're used to.

Good luck with the new house. IMO, although the housing market in many parts of the country is slow and prices have stopped climbing (and even reversed slightly), nice houses in good / stable neighborhoods will always be in demand.

Well we're spending our first night in the new(old) house! I'm enjoying an El Rico Habano maduro and resting my back. For a large house it doesn't seem to take much to heat it. There are definitely areas that are cooler than others but I think it'll be fine.
