I have a small 35-50 count humi that I got from Emerson's last year with their summer deal. That is when I first really got into cigars. Came with a cheap humidifier that basically exploded after charging. I replaced it with a Xikar puck and that seemed to work great until the winter. I had to put a 69 Boveda and at one point a small shot glass of Xikar PG. I think it was on its last legs as it was only holding about 63-65 lately. I decided to switch to Boveda with my limited space especially since my humi is slam full thanks to the DE dinner a couple weeks ago. I bout the cedar holder and a couple 65 and 69 packs. I would like to be at 65RH but the 65s would get to 63. Just checked the 69s are sitting at 68. A little higher than I want but felt like 63 was too low. Boveda needs to make some 67s and I'd be golden. Let me jus say that it sucks changing how things are mounted in there when using adhesive tape trying to get the old stuff off. Also the cedar holder is a little bigger than I expected and can't fit my hygrometer back on the lid. It will just have to sit with the sticks. I don't smoke that often so I don't want to invest in a bigger humi just yet but I think the Bovedas will work better for me than the Xikar since I can just grab some 72s for the winter if the 69s can't keep up.

If you're storing NC's, the 63-68 range isn't a bad place, in my experience. If you're consistently 2ish degrees less and your humi is full, I would think your hygrometer is a few ticks off, or your seal needs to be tightened up. Have you calibrated your hygro? Also, are your Bovedas fully charged? How's your seal?

I think youll find that boveda is the preferred option for many members here...

I've got active humidification in my cabinet.. but back it up with several 65 bovedas... theyre simply excellent...

The humi is leaky, that's why your rh never gets as high as the packets. Ditch it and grab a Tupperware. Trust me. You'll avoid all the leak issues, your rh will be more stable, and your Bovedas will last forever and a day.

Yeah was just looking more into that and probably will in the near future. At least before the winter.

I've heard of people using painter's tape or electrical tape around the ledge of the lid of the desktop humidor to insure a tighter seal.
