Todd, normally I'm not a huge fan either, but last week I had one that knocked my socks off. It was a Cohiba Double Corona EL from '03...if you ever get the opportunity, smoke one. I actually dreamed about that cigar that night!
I've had one of those...it was enjoyable.

I have had one cohiba that was young and merely tasted grassy to me.
I would compare an aged JL#1 or #2 to a young cohiba. I cant say for the older ones. I have 4 sitting that will wait for years to be smoked. I can't imagine paying those prices on a smoke that I am not convinced of. That's why I want to try all the old smokes I can. If they are worth it I will find them. If the cohiba is worth the price then let me taste it.

My Cohiba VIs will never become vintage. They want to, but I keep stopping it from happening.

I am starting to not appreaciate the vanilla bean and grassy flavor profile of this marca.

Maybe it was just my tastes this morning but it just came across as too atypical for a cigar to taste that way.
Todd, I think I understand what you're trying to say but maybe I'm confused by your post. You're not appreciating the "vanilla bean and grassy flavor profile" of the cohiba which is indeed its trademark flavors. No other marca that I know of tastes this way which inherently makes it atypical. No different from a Bolivar that smacks of pepper, earth and leather or a HdM that exhibits a sweet wood and leather core. IMHO, I think each cigar stands out by themselves due to their differing blends and thus flavor profiles.

So are you saying that since no other marca exhibits a "vanilla bean and grassy flavor" profile (basically unique), you're beginning to not appreciate a Cohiba? :seesaw:

I like the Cohiba flavor, but personally Trinidads I like more. They are similar, but different. Though I haven't tried most of the Cohibas, I have had a couple of the siglos, the robusto, and the sublime.
