Guys,

I've been a little concerned lately. Due to humidity and temp fluctuations in the basement (where my 34 bottle vinotemp compressor model) where my humidor is stored, the same is happening inside my humi. Obviously to a lesser extent, but I still get concerned. For instance, the temp fluctuates daily between 61F and 66F. This causes the RH to fluctuate maybe between 65% and 69%. I guess my question is two fold.
1). Is this hurting my cigars? I mostly store boxes. Most are long(er) term /aging.
2). Is there anything I can be doing to help mitigate the fluctuations inside the humi?

Thanks guys,
Paul

I would agree with the above. Over the long term I would think it would matter much. If those are your daily smokes it might have a small influence on day to day taste (big maybe).

Solution----- MORE BEADS!!!! Beads/bovedas are great for fluctuation. I had like 5 lbs of beads in just my little wineador and the RH rebounded in a very very short time even after having it open to show off the stash.

1. No, don't worry about it. The cigars are in the boxes and will be a little more sheltered from the fluctuations anyway. I would not worry one bit about the range you are saying... I'm guessing this only happens during the Summer?
2. Add more beads and make sure to spread them out inside the fridge, don't just have them on the bottom/top etc.

Yeah, the ones in boxes are not an issue. but the singles get the brunt . smoking those , ups the chances for symptoms caused by unstabilty .

Thanks guys. Ok. For the most part this is only a summer issue. It is super damp in the basement. Temp is never really an issue. In the winter it drops to about 62/62 which I think is perfect
